HTT woes on Neo2 in preparation for Opteron...
So here I've been chugging away with a Winchester 3200+ all this time, on my Neo2 Plat. It's a rubbish chip, at its peak it only did about 2.35GHz prime stable and I started getting instability with it so just whacked it back down to stock. Anyway...
My main problem with overclocking this CPU (apart from it going nowhere in particular) was the max HTT I could get out of the system. It maxed out at 275, 1:1 (I have GSkill LE) or with any divider you care to mention - memtest just wouldn't run stably at anything above 275. I know the RAM's good for way over that, so that leaves the CPU or the board. Which is it likely to be? I ask now because I've got a 144 coming, and with 9x and only 275MHz HTT to work with I won't be a happy bunny overclocking it if I'm limited to less than 2.5GHz.
So what kind of HTT do Neo2s usually max out at? Or is it definitely the Winchester's fault that I was so limited, and it should be fine with the Opteron? And what mods (if any) can I do to the Neo2 if it turns out to be its fault? Any advice would be appreciated.
EDIT - Oh, I'm using 1.36b (or maybe 1.37b, it's the one where you can set the NB fan to be temperature-controlled in the BIOS) - any other BIOS suggestions would be appreciated, though I'd really need it to have this function.
