    SD FX55 @ 45C at stock v.core with water

Just recived my new Sandiego FX55 and it seems to run extreeeeemly hot i have good watercooling with trible radi at water temps at 29-30C
but my idle temp is 38C and load temp is 45C and i am only using 1.36 V.core

I ripped of the waterblock to chek out for AS, and added some, but still same dam temp.

eny one have eny experience wit these FX 55 SD ? are they really so hot ??

My SD 3700+ ran at load temp 48C with 1.78 V.core and 38C load with 1.36V
    but it whas also nakked.

Maby i should rip of the IHS

If u have a SD FX 55 please post your Load temp and V.core..

i vould hate to rip of the IHS in VAIN

but it sure is stron this chip eventhoug its 61 C load temp with 1.55 V.core its still Stable at 3009 mhz

30C is a little warm for water isn't it?

May need to rip the IHS off may just be bad contact.

With stock volts i load at like 31C

Yep these thing do run too hot, as i found out (although I think yours might be a little worse than mine was).

Same boat as you, I have decent water cooling and yet my temps were far higher that with Winchester, Venice or San Diego. I tried reseating the block lots of times but it made no differance, in the end I bite the bullet and removed the IHS (dam near pooed my pants in the process, my first time and with an FX too).

Anytime your temps are significantly higher than they should be, its either the IHS, a bad mount, or a bad reading.

THAT IHS IS GOING OF !!!!!!!

i have done it 3 times before, so i know haw to do it, and these temps are insane !! with 1.55 V.core i can do super pi 16M at 2998mhz but the chip is 60-62C load

ill bet i can take of 10 deg but removing that IHSand the 3ghz + might be reachable

it seems like wee have the eksagt same temps with these chips

I agree that the IHS is somewhat of a problem for a few SD Fx55's. My 55 (and YES it is a FX55 - just check the link in my sig) on air runs up to about 50+C @ ~1.42Vcore. But the problem with the IHS is more apparant when I put the cpu under my autocascade. My core temps ~-28C while a temperature probe mounted to the IHS reades -51C. With a difference of 23C, it seems to me the IHS isn't making good contact with the actual cpu....

BUUT afterwods i plugged my cpu in and mountet the cpu after the opperation like i did with the tre other succesfull oprations i have done with those A64´s but puf it says .... short cutting the PSU a sek. after power is connected....

The IHS is perfektly cutted of and no transistors have been tuched... eventhough it refuse to power up ..... PIIIIIIV

If I'm reading that right, your saying you've removed the IHS, reseated the water block but the system powers off after a couple of seconds?

If so mine did that the first time I mounted the block after removing the IHS, it was a bad contact between block and core...cpu was overheating in a couple of secs and the thermal diode in the chip cuts the power before any damage happens.

Have you tried remounting your water block?

Apologies if I have read your post incorrectly.

Hahahaha......you can't compare your Venice to these FX's - that's just not fair. They're two totally different beasts. For reference, here's my venice 3200+ on air:

Same prob i had here T-Max.. You have to screw that water block down tight as can be to make sure its get even pressure and perfect contact or it will over heat and turn right off when you power up.

Happened a few times to me and my new 4400+ after i took the lid off.

You can try putting thermal compound on the core, freely put IHS on it and then mount waterblock... you will get good contact and you will see if something happend...

Sounds like the water block is hitting the cam box on cpu socket, preventing proper contact. Try slipping a piece of paper between water block and cam box. If it does not slide between the two then they are probably in contact and preventing a proper mount. Take some sand paper and lightly sand the top of cam box.

I had this happen on my an8sli board. A little sanding fixed the problem...
