    7800GT pipeline unlocking thread

The purpose of this thread is for those who attempt to unlock the pipelines of 7800gt's to report your results.

Also, in the previous generation, we found that the 6800gt had lower memory latency than the 6800U, so those who could get a 6800gt overclocked to default 6800U speeds got better scores. Let's see what we can find out about that too.

Please report brand, pipes unlocking, and overclock. It may be helpful to report core revision in the future (I think A2 is shipping)

    I hope to contribute soon.

The pipes are there, and some reviewers have been able to unlock engineering samples, but we'll see about retail units. Finding that out is the purpose of this thread.

P00p. Unwinder says no. We'll keep trying anyway. Remember what happened with the x800pro's? (or was it x800xt's)

Edit: what I'm saying is that there could be a physical way of enabling pipes. I doubt it though.

um, sure, you could unlock the pipes...and take some runs...but will they be artifact free? You only see scores @ HKPC.

The chips on both GT and GTX looks the same. So no physical way here.

HKPC's were pre-production models. So it looks like "no, you can't unlock in software" and "no, there is no physical mod to unlock 7800gt pipes."

    Hi guys!

Today arrived a misterious Fedex package with a GF 7800GT nVidia Reference Sample to my house . I´m not sure if it´s an engineering sample or just a reference board, I will take out the heatsink now

Short news, this beauty can unlock pipelines and it can clock up to 493/1180 on stock cooling. Will post benchmarks soon.

    Greetings!

Update: Although Riva Tuner looks like it had 24p 7v there's no change on 3DMark scores.

That seems to be the norm. Looks like it will unlock, but doesn't. Thanks for posting.

    I'd advise moving/trying the graphix mod's section.

Have fun, these chips are completely different in design from the 5 and 6 series( in the unlocking aspect). The chips are the same, the GTX and GT. But a physical alteration in the die will prevent anyone from unlocking the pipes. Have fun, but you won't be able to unlock the pipes on most the retail cards.
