Prescott 3.0E E0 SL7PM - Costa Rica VS MALAY

Greetings, citizen of Earth.

I have to choose one of these two 3.0E 478 CPUs - both have the same SL7PM stepping, one of them manufactured in Costa Rica and the other one in MALAY.
Countless hours of internet browsing have yet to yield any notable results.

People claim the Costa Rica to be better than the MALAYSIA model for overclocking, but neither an actual proof nor even a trustworthy opinion has been announced in this forum or in others concerning the specific comparison between the Prescott models, which may suggest that there is no actual difference between them at all.

If needed, I will try to acquire the exact model numbers and manufacturing ID's of both the CPUs.

Which one is the better? I believe the Costa Rica model to be the one, but I'm just a n00b so I'm here for some 1337 members to clarify this disturbing issue...

Please look at this Thread, there are some pictures taken from a SL7PM PHILIPPINES. Maybe you can get one, it overclocks very very good even on aircooling. 285x15 at stock voltage!

Thanks, I will try to look for one, even though that thread is written in German and mine isn't all too good...

maybe there really is no difference between the SL7PM models..

i have an Costa Rica SL7PM who clocks to 4Ghz @ 1,6 bios 1,55win, 1,48 Load!

What is the significance of these values? Are you referring to Volts or Temps?

Hes reffering to voltage that he has sent to cpu...

Basically .... hes set it 1.6v in the BIOS ....
and when he loads into windows its 1.55 ......
and under 100% load .... it droops to 1.48 ...

1.6V for a Pressy? I guess 'Xtreme' does indeed stand for a reason...

I wouldn't go past the 1.4V safe-zone, as I've been told a SL7PM would easily do 4G's on stock voltage.

I guess I'll stick with the Costa Rica and rely on a miracle

SL7pm are good cpus, ive had 2
one did 3.6 gig and the other did 3.8 gig
stock voltages .......

on air ....

with good cooling i think any where from 3.6 gig to 4 gig is achivable...
and 1.6 isnt extreme 1.8v is :P

If it had been a Northwood I would have agreed with you,
but for a Prescott it seems quite dangerous.

I'm going to try the Costa Rica model today and decide whether or not it's worth the efforts.
