Question Will the Asus CT-479 be compatible wtih the Yonah Dual Core......

Just wondering if new CPU's based on the Yonah Core and the Sonoma architecture could be installed on old Boards (CT-479 compatible Asus boards...)
By the way, i could also be angry about the fact that Intel won't add EMT64 instructions in those CPU's....what a waste.....
In the socket is still the 479, this may become realistic......
Konwing that you can modify yourself the FSB on the Ct-479 (between 400 and 533).......And even on some boards (P4GD1 for instance)...the board recognized herself the frequency of the front side bus...
So, knowing than the future Yonah Dual-core will run on a 667(?) FSB, and that every Asus boards will accept more than 230 FSB with an overclocked Pentium M.......
everything is set to raise the bar......
    Anyone has info??? or regrets???

i beleive it comes out in two variants (with different names) for normal users (thers some other server one, but we wont be using that probably). one is s775, and the other is s480. i'd wait for the s775 one, though it will come out later.

Arrow Ok i got my answer....

For now on, it'd be useful to know which boards will be compatible with the Yonah (LGA-775)..........
Say Bios updates for actual boards...???
Or new boards (wtih the "sonoma" chipset....).....???
Damned....not easy to get a fix on those things......

Yep. There is already bios 1006 beta which supports yonah core.

    Edit: atleast on P4GD1

How do you learn that P4GD1 support Yonah?
single core yonah or dual core yonah ?

And its a long way to 2006 like hardwarevice. There must be better mobos with pci-e and stuff coming before that.

    Yop 'd be definitly great.....

So....No solid news....but there is hope (this BĂȘta Bios 1005.1006 ...thanks angru
    Nota :
I think more now that possessors of A64 and Pentium D have the best sets right now.... (First because the A64 is has EMT-64, and that will become best for encoding...and second because Pentium D are Dual Core, relativly cheap and also have EMT-64 instructions...)

If Intel sort out a S479 chip based on the Yonah core, it'd be a single one...
So, better wait for motherboards based on the sonoma chipset.....Sume4

But still, if a chip like this would go out, we'd hope for a 166 FSB and we'll be able to reach up to 4 Ghz (16 x 250 FSB, which i think is the practical limit for the P4GD1 board......about 253 FSB with a Prescott.....

So,let's say about 17 sec with a modded version of superPI (SSE2 and SSE3 support...)

So the Pentium M (Yonah) support Nx-bit and SSE3 but why not EMT-64 for????

Imho will be disabled in the beginning, ready for future. This is how Intel work everytime. Anyway I'll not miss that thing.
And speaking of the Yonah compatibility on the sonoma/875/865+CT479 platform... well, honestly I'll be surprised if it will work. Again, this is how Intel work everytime.
    Pentium M 'Dothan' 740 @ 2.80(280*10)/1120/DDR425/1.45v stock air qfan @11/15, ASUS P4P800-SE rev2.0, ASUS V9999LE GeForce 6800LE @16/6, 2x cheap Twinmos PC3200, 2xHitachi 7K250 RAID0, Coolermaster ATC-201C and blah blah blah

    Yop
    This is how Intel works....rivers
Will wait for more knowledge about future CPU's...(Will Try to sneek past what Intel or AMD are planning to do before buying both a mobo and a chip.....

've been thinking that Intel was testing Dual Core on previous chips, at least the idea of it...but this is only what i SUPPOSE
(such as Northwood....) (H.T. is a little like Dual Core.....but less efficient of course....hope it is coded the same way....more or less)

    yonah will keep the socket
as i said, it's pretty sure to see this babies on our mobos.

want Intel wants.. this is not the point. Asus did it.
I really don't think that they r happy to see p-m on desktops

Question Then can't wait to see it coming....

i wonder, royal....will we be able to install Yonah Dual core on 865/875/(P4GD1) mobos....with the CT-479 adaptor from Asus (400/533 FSB only...Yonah=667??)
The first chip available will be 2.13 Ghz (so let's say about 2.8 on air,...maybe 3.2 with a good one....and 4Ghz available on Water or other icy stuff...)
Some say P M chips won't get very high in frequency (cause they were not designed for that purpose...but once they are there=they outrun an FX-55, stock of course....
Anyway, where do you get this info from???
    But it's definitly great....
