Problem with my VENICE 3000+ 0517 EPAW

    Hello
My Venice hit easly 2700 mhz (9x300 )with 1.45v ( bios ) , temp are around 50o - load prime, with cooler from my sig.

Problem is that this cpu doesent want to work with anything higher. Like 9x305 , and prime fails instatly. Im rising vcore eaven to 1.6v and it doesent help, temps are abnormal ( 60o ). Ive tried box cooling but it was same.
I was thinking that i mabe have problem with my ihs so ive cut it off, and still same + temp lovered only 3-4o at load.

All testings im doing with ram speed at 220-240 mhz wich i know is stable ( 255 3.4 v is 100% tested and stable ).

I was thinking thats is issue with htt, so ive switched multiplier to 8, 8x325 - 2600 mhz same v, and prime fails, ive started digging with timings, switched max async latency to 8 and its stable now at this setting. However 9x305 still no good.

Bios ive tried are 510-2 and 414-2.

Im going nuts, this chip supposly to hit 2.8 without problems ( my 2 friends have same stepping from same shop and both hit 2850 with 1.5v ).

There is no gurantee in your overclock, tho it does seem like an odd problem. What is your HTT multiplier? Try bumping up LDT voltage too.

TheMeatFrog: ive bought in Poland in shop called ecs.
koei: ldt multiplier'si ive tried 2x , 2,5x and 3x , voltage range from 1.2 - 1.4 - no go. I know that OC aint guranteed but its about what this unit suppose to do, if it reaches 2700 easy, why not a bit more ? there is something called "voltage scaling" and it was always helping

I think your temps are a little high sobol... I've kind of run into a similar wall and no matter what variable I change my setup just doesnt like the heat, I have a 3800 thou so i only get the 65o threshold, yours can get up to 75o i believe? but maybe your chip was meant to be a 3800? I reccomend getting it cooler, i just got a hyper 6 which Im going to install tonight so I can make some progress... right now I'm just like you 1.425v @2750mhz, no matter what i change it just wont go higher.... the common factor in this problem = heat

I dunno if this is final. But till now i wasnt able to do 305x9.

What i did moment ago was, flashing my bios to orginal 310.
Then cmos reset + load defaults. Then ive set evrything in bios exempt ram, only changed divider to 133.

Now im priming from 14 mins ( last max was 4 mins ). I dunno is it bios helping me, or mabe those damn mem timings. Ill report soon.

It seems to me that once you reach the limit with these venice chips, more voltage doesn't seem to help. I am stable at 2.7 with 1.52v. It takes 1.61v to be stable at 2.8. Then at 1.7v 2.85 is only bench stable. Fails prime in less than 10 minutes. Your temps do seem a little high also. At 1.61v I am around 40c after 4 hours of prime. Cooling with XP-90 and pananflo fan.

Im using a Winnie, got it to 304 x 9 1:1 1T @ 1.53v, I cannot get any higher either but it's SuperPI 32M and 24+ hours Prime stable at 304HT. Using 510-3 bios, temps are 31 idle and 41 load with TT Big Typhoon. Memtest errors on test 5 at 305 so i know 304 is the max my memory can do 1:1 (G.Skill 4400 LE 2 x 512). So I dropped to 133 divider which is actually ~ ddr400 and I still cant push CPU higher without prime failing. Like you, I'm at 1.53v I should be able to push further with more voltage but just cannot seem to break it. I would really like to find out what the limitation is now.

hyper 6 update, temps are down a lot! and more clock too! I can now enter 3ghz in windows, working on getting it stable running that at 1.65v @35C. Temperature had a lot to do with it
