Success!!! p4 630 to 4 ghz on a Dell!!!!!

I knew it would be possible, so for those who want the cheapest 4 ghz P4 EE processor on a 925XE chipset mobo, pick up an 8400 with a 630.

Complete system specs
Ati x300se 128 mb ddr (I'll probably upgrade)
P4 630 soddered to 4 ghz (1066 fsb)
512 mb ddr2 533 mhz fsb
160 gig SATA HD with NCQ
16X dvd burner and 16X dvd rom
Dell 925XE chipset mobo (made by foxconn I think)
Win XP
dual 17" LCD, 1 E173FP and 1 1704FP
all on a lowly 350 Watt PSU

all for $660
and this was done by solderring bsel1 to bsel2, to change bsel1 from H to L

a camera, or if you want screenshots use the printscreen button on the top right of your keyboard, then paste them into a program like paint.

not bad at all, not that im saying your arent legit but this could be done with some reg hacks though, its fairly simple to change your pic in the my computer to anything you want. Nice work on that Dell of yours though.

I should put that dell pic on my "my computer" screen and email it to a dell help person with a mad OC on it

You first install it twice, to two different folders. You then set the CPU affinity for one copy to 0 and the other copy to 1.

OK whoever wants a picture of 2 instances to post pls pm me your email , I was worried about this test, do people know are the 775 less wattage hogs, my only other p4 a 2.4a prescott would kill my PSU, but this is running fine on dells 350 Watt, which isn't a horrible PSU but does only have 18A on the +12V

I wonder if the increased die size that goes along with the 2mb cache is allowing better thermal transfer and the improved overclocking we seem to be seeing with the 600 series.

Will I tried running p95 two instances, got one error after 91 minutes on one of them, I never put any as5 or thermal compound on it though (just left the stock crap) so its probably just getting a little warm

Congrats man. Temps aren't an issue? Dell's are built more for acoustics then stability in warm climates in my experience.

Although obviously not ideal, P95 stable for 91 minutes is most likely good enough for anything. You can count on Windows being stable as long as you can last 10 minutes. Also, that is close enough to full stability that the odds are that AS5 will make it stable, if not, you might want a better HSF which would almost certainly do the trick. You are definately going to be getting hot at that clock, Intel stopped at 3.8GHz because of power usage.

I'm debating whether to take the processor out again to take a pic of the solder, when I put it in after the solder it took a fair amount of force and I'm scared of having to do it again especially with all the talk about the 775 socket messing up after 20 uses, maybe I'll get up the nerve though
