    dell i6000d overclocking (i915 chipset with 7x0 cpu)

    So I bought the new Dell Inspiron 6000 with dedicated graphics (ati x300), which uses the "new" i915pm chipset, which supports the "new" 533fsb Pentium M's. I got the Pentium M 715, which runs 15x100=1500mhz.

    By grounding the bsel0 pin, the system runs at 133fsb as opposed to 100. The result is 15x133=2000, or the equivalent of a Pentium M 760, which would have cost $350 more.

    It's fully prime95 stable, and even with an undervolt.

    Default:
    6x100=600 @ 0.988v
    15x100=1500 @ 1.340v

    Overclocked + Undervolted:
    6x133=800 @ 0.700v
    15x133=2000 @ 1.148v

    I made a first draft of a semi-formal writeup on this at http://www.ijib.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3

    the oc is done by a physical wiremod (refer to www.ijib.com)

    i dropped a copper wire to connect vss and bsel0 to thus ground bsel0 to low and run 133fsb instead of 100

    and so 15x133=2000 (760equiv) vs original 15x100=1500 (715equiv)

    that's $350 savings as per dell's website for difference between 715 and 760

    stable too

    and 33/66 pci/agp too

    thanks for the title update

    yeah, the undervolting is great. even 33% overclocked, i get about 15min more battery with the undervolt

    it's really 0.988v to 0.7v when i have it on battery since i rarely make it go up to full speed so its usually sitting on 800mhz 0.7v on batt

    ;(

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=61093 edit: for some reason the server these pics are on is gone. it'll probably be back up soon and as soon as I get some AS5 I'll crack it back open. :)

    I like the sound of that. Having all the overclocking threads grouped together would be great.

    Add me to the list of people that would be all about a laptop OC thread.

    Wow, that's amazing!... I've just ordered a new Dell Inspiron 9200 with a Pentium M 740 (1.73Ghz,2MbL2,533Mhz) so I shall certainly look forward to mod this one!...

    I was just about to post about o/c'ing laptops... : )

    Doh - just read, this one already runs FSB of 133, so can't mod mine... : (
