    ASUS A8N-SLI Vcore Mod

    Hello,

I needed a Vcore mod so I searched the Internet but no luck, so I started to look how I could make a mod.

You will have te solder a wire to PIN 23 of the voltage chip that is located above the cpu. with a 10K trim pot to the GND it gives a minimum of 1.8V (Haven't tested more). But I doesn't help much for me I will have to test some more.

I will post a pic asap when it 100 % works

You just solder a wire to the spot marked with the red cirkle, then the other end of the wire to a 10Kohm Trim pot (set it to 10Kohm and turn it down to get more vcore)
Then an another wire form the pot to the ground (a skrew or a GND wire of a fan)

The only riks there are is making a short circuit with + and -

I advise if you never solderd you should let it do by somebody who has experience.

    Good Luck

OK i havent done this before. i have a trim pot but its like circular and i am not quite sure which spots i should be soldering to. there are like three connectors.
well two that are together and one by itself. well maybe the one isnt a connector. i dont konw much about electrical things cuase id assume there are only two things to connect to. but i just wanted to be sure. any help on this would be great.

ok! i did this mod. was really nervous about it cause i dont have a very fine point on my soldering gun. i taped all around it and then got it on there took the tape away and it was all looking great. then i accidentally caught the wire on something when i was putting it back into my case and bam ripped the whole contact off and now my motherboard wont boot or anything. Ahh well learning experience. got a DFI on the way but it was a good learning experience. just a kinda pricey one ><

If you can post some pictures of the damaged area it might be possible to repair.

It looks like the pad that you are supposed to solder to, came off the board. He could try to follow the traces and see what components were connected to the pad and bridge them with a wire/trimmer.

minimum 1.8v with what set in bios?

if you set bios to the lowest value, can it be brought down to something like 1.7v?
