6800 stuttering kill's me, any cure for me ?

Greetz i recently bought Leadtek Winfast 6800 A400 TDH 128
mb ram. Prebiously i had R9800 128 MB. Since i changed my gfx card i experiance suttering in all my games. Games are sutter evry copule seconds, its like massive fps drop for one second and its back to normal, its drives me nuts. Now i write what i tried to fix problem, after reading many forums and noting did help:

    - fresh windows install
    - clocking card faster/slower ( from 300/300 to 400/800 )
    - unlocked pipes/vertex with success ( no art. with 16/6 )
    - turning fast writes on/off
    - forcing refresh rate to 100 and 85 hz in drivers
    - different drivers 66.93, 71.25, 71.80
    - checking blitting setting's in RivaTunner
    - using same clock's for 3d and 2d modes
    - changeing game resolutions from 800x600 to 1280x1024
    - many different filtering modes AA and AF from 0/0 to 8/16
    - changeing mobo nforce drivers
    - changeing agp voltage from 1.4v to 1.7v
    - disabling/enabling chipset compatibility in RivaTunner

And here are my system specs:

This indeed is very weird. Can you test the card in a different PC?

Highland3r i seriously doubt its psu. First R9800 didnt stutter and i think those card have something around equal power needs, and secondly i seen someone on forum with Antec TruePower 520 that had same stuttering too.

Well ill try it elsewhere if noting will help/noone advice me something

I don't know if this would have any impact but just looking at your hardware:
    2x512 MB PC3200 TWINMOS CH-5 2-2-2-5 1:1 2T (3.3 V) + HS NEXUS COPPER KING
Sounds like you're asking a little too much outta those rams. I don't know if you've tried running the system at lower speeds but from my experiences i wouldn't expect to have good stabilty much above 220-230 on that ram with 2.0-3-2-5 timings w/3.1-3.2v.
I'm sure you're using a divider and don't have it much above that but it's just a suggestion.
Have you been watching the GPU temps? From what i've read you seem to have everything else covered as far as FW off and new OS with the proper drivers.
Anyways, GL with it and i hope you get it resolved. I would certainly have fun with a 6800 too

sounds like possible throttling, or overheating to me. I got the same card, but no problems. Default clocks are 325/350 (700 btw) not 300/300, so unless that was a typo yours was underclocked. Does the Lanparty hav an AGP/PCI lock? I assume so.

Any particular games you've tried? Like hl2, and far cry in particular? Or just all games.

Gpu tempa are 52o at idle and 75o at stress. About mem well i can try back to default setting of mem/cpu, but on Radeon 9800 it was fine with this setting.

isn't that abnormal with ch-5, a friend of mine does 2-2-2-11 at 3.3v 240fsb, fully stable! ch5 is really underestimated imho

there's a big diff. between 260mhz and 240mhz, but 260mhz definatly isn't un heard of or close to it for ch5, but thats all I can think would be causing the problem.

Get rivatuner and the monitor or w/e, see if it throttles. When it throttles it will pause for a second. 75c is pretty hot, and so maybe it's throttling, dethrottling, throttling, etc...?

Set the arpeture-size to 256mb in the bios, some 6800 cards seem to have problems at any lower then that.

Honestly, the most painful, but easiest solution, is to run it at stock and see if you have problems. After that, OC each component to its max and see.

A64 OCing is set up rather nicely, you always have dividers and multipliers to OC one component moreso than the other.

    Example:
I've been having HL-2 crash issues, with a prime-stable 275x10 3200 winnie rig, and the culprit seemed to be the video card, so I was about to RMA. I dropped my OC by 50 mhz, haven't seen a problem since.

I was just trying to suggest other variables. I imagine the 6800 would draw more than the 9800p which might start making previously stable settings start becoming a factor.
With your 6800 hitting 75c loaded i would suggest having an open case with a fan (92-120mm) blowing directly on it to see if you can get it to stop throttling if that is what infact it's doing.
I still get shivers thinking about 2x512mb CH-5 on a siglechannel A64 much over 200 with 2-2-2 timings.... I musta had bad NF2 experiances?

    drcrawn:
with 1.6 v it have quite normal temp. and if it would overheat why R9800 worked without stutters ?

    alexio:
i tried after your post from 64 to 512 mb, still same.

    viccyran:
I did back with evrything to default, core / system mem / gpu / gpu mem / mem timings, all was set to default... still same, it was stuttering eaven worst

Poki: my R9800 had 6200 points in 3DMARK2003, 6800 doesent stutter in mark and gets from 9000 points ( at default ) to 11100 ( with 16p/6v and 360/760 ).
Belive system mem is fine at default speed graphic still stutters.
I got my case open all the time ( what for closing it ? , with orginal fan it was 62o at load, but it was also stuttering.

Anyone else got any ideas ?
I must add that CMR 2004 doesent stutter.
My problem is biggest in nfs2 anf Far Cry ( 1.3 ) . In dynamic actions it drops fps ( too much ) and durinig game its stop for some mili seconds, i have felling like its out of mem , like its loading textures but its way too often, and why R9800 didnt had this problem?

    Sobol,

In certain cases there seems to be an issue with certain combinations of 6xxx gpus and NF3 boards, in particular the DFI.

Looking over the steps that you've already tried, one suggestion is if you have a backup or through someone that you know, plug in the Leadtek 6800 with a different NF3 board, or a non NF3 one. That way it'll kinda clue in if it's something with this board/chipset and gpu combination that's causing the stutter. i doubt the power supply is the culprit. But definitely if nothing seems to work try the card with a different board/setup.

well if it strikes in far cry, and nfs2 then maybe your running it at too high graphical settings. Try taking it all down to 1024x768, and low detail, see if that does anything.

don_vercetti its occurs eaven in 800x600 in both games with mid details.
Now ive installed HL2 and it have stutters too.

I understand now more nature of this stuttering.
Its like skipping few frames, theyre totaly missing, its like jumping from one moment to another, and its take miliseconds, occurs more in dynamic action.

I know someone who had to buy a new psu because his Chieftec 360W couldn't handle an oced a64 + 6800 card. If you can borrow a good psu it would be worth a try.

It's not a power problem, it's not a card problem, it's a DFI nf3 problem. I have the same problem with my GT and my ultra. Reducing the PCI latency to 64 helps alot.
A quick test to see if you have it too, is to run 3dmark05 GT3. It's very noticeable at the beginning of GT3

I also have this problem and I also have the DFI board. Maybe Haldol is correct. If you find a solution let us know
