    Link doesn't work for me.

They still need dual channel and a higher FSB. Still, this is a great motherboard for those Dothan overclockers out there.

Why don't they make an ATX-sized Dothan motherboard with more stuff on it? Is it that they don't need the space because the chipset can't use the extra space anyway?

Now I don't know if I should wait for one of these puppies, the DFI i852 board, or just go with an i855.

Going dual channel ddr1 would have been nicer.

Still its a 915 based chipset i hear so the odd mod may be on the cards

    Definitely.

What's i852? Is that the successor or a cheaper variant?

Was finally fed up with the 939/754 mATX junk and about to get one of these boards. So thanks for the info - NOT! Any idea when these are due out?

These have been mATX boards because #1: Intel wants to keep these out of the mainstream and #2: they are low power chips and are ideal for small cases/custom laptops (what were those called?)

I wish I knew. It'll probably be several months, though. I'm getting anxious.

i cannot see ANY logical reason why intel would choose to use DDR2 with this CPU apart from STILL trying to justify its introduction, yes its is good for the pee4 that needs all the bandwidth it can get to be competetive but the Dothan ?

Wow, it says "128/64-bit DDR2-533, DDR400" - So technically, we could see anything from single channel DDR2 to dual channel DDR1, right?

Well what's the problem then? I mean, there are also 915-boards with dual DDR1..

    That's a damn good point.

Hopefully with the Dothan and DDR-2 we can stave off having to get more than >550w PSUs for another few years.

Any plans for an SLI mATX Dothan board? now that would rock >=]

I bet that with ddr2 the dothan can now beat an FX at least marginally in 3dmark, if not hands down.

do i sense a little cynicism there? , i would think that the Dothan would quite happily run with a good 250w PSU

Yeah, I really don't like the idea that I'm going to need a kilowatt PSU 12 months from now to run a new system, hence I like the idea of this CPU being the base for a system.

Now if only NVIDIA or ATI would start work on a GPU equivalent of the Dothan (i.e. lower power consumption, cool, small, fast).

    Damm...
TomorowI have a flight to Florida. I was thinking agout bying a laptop on centrino and desktop system based on 855gme +dothan.
My first idea was bying DFI than after reading the all story I decided to buy A-Open.
Now the new rewision of DFI, but when boards on Alviso are comming it would be a nonsens...

    It's going to support both DDR1/DDR2: http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/...spx?i=2317&p=4

Fishman, I would go with 939 until Alviso comes out or better yet, keep what you have. The laptop sounds like a nice idea though.

I just wish it would hurry up and get here. The Dothan seems like a chip with a lot of potential, but right now, from reading other threads it seems like a little bit too much hassle to overclock. Too many black creens, GPU reset etc. I really can't be arsed with that kinda thing, I wanna actually be able to use my oc'd rig as well as much around with it.

If this new chipset would hurry up and get out I might change my mind about A64 come April (<-- next upgrade).
