Very interesting I'm sure we'd all admit. Followed the link in the description but it didn't go anywhere.

I'd like to know why the difference in temp ( single v dual cascade? ) and also the mechanicals of it all

    Before I forget

    Great score !

Jesus christ. Didn't Futuremark say a new release every 15K? Guess they need to change that with SLI out to every 30K or so.

might be the difference in temps is due to a somewhat smaller and less effective evap? look at the pics. but i might be wrong for all that's worth.
great score shamino/lardarse... that 2k3 number feels just so unreal, rembering the hunt for 10k... yes that was THIS year as well ...

I wonder what a 2001 run would bring on that setup.

with a FX55, on a SLI set up, it looks like 30K will be a sinch with some real cooling.

strange, I use to complain so damn much about 3dmark2003, but over the last few months, it really grew on me.
can't wait to see what he can do with a better CPU in there, I know my scores on 3Dmark2003 shot up by about 1500 points taking my A64 3700 from 10x270, to 12x255 with dry ice.
that was with the exact same clocks.
with these FX55's hitting 3.4 ghz and more, I can only imagine whats coming from SLI and a good cooling set up next

I can see the ORB seperating into SLI / non-SLI rankings. It should, in my opinion.

The most interesting thing to note of course is that phase change is possible on Sli with the right motherboard ( that has a good gap between SLi slots ).

    So that's 3 x dual cascades, 2 6800U for 03 and 05 and an Ati X850 for 01, an SLi motherboard, a good Fx55 and two sticks of bh-5 / VX.

So the question is, do you sell your kidney or your grandma ?

I couldn't agree more. I would really like to see the orb split into two categorys, but you know, i guess it's all about who has the fastest rig NO MATTER WHAT. so if sli is out there then i guess we are all as equally capable of buying sli and running it as well.
tiz funny though, you see a guy with 3 cascades on the latest motherboard with 2 of the latest videocards overclocked to the max you just say to yourself, there is no way ever i will be able to compete with that lol...

It's been in my exp that nvidia cards are less point yielding on mem clocks as oppose to gpu clocks and I also found most cards have a sweet spot for mem where when you keep it there the gpu can go even higher, but just my opinion nothing to back it up.

theres an option in a program or driver that disables clock throttling but beware, if your card gets too hot, it will die instead of underclocking. besides why should it thottle in the first place when its so cold?

anyway superb 12k in 2005 and 28k(havent seen link but I believe u) in 2003. I doubt 30k is possible on more cpu clocks alone since 2003 and especially 2005 are just soooooooooooo gpu limited! 29k maybe. I am very curious what sli does in 2001, does it even help at all?

because the thermal temp diode only goes so low, then it starts back again from the top... at 200+ degrees...

atleast thats what i understand as being the problem...

never thought I'd hear you say something couldn't be done

anyways, just take your CPU same clocks, and take it over 3. ghz with the AMD 64, then take it down to 2.5 ghz... you will see the "GPU limited" your talking about, isn't really a big issue.
score go up ALOT, with a fast A64 in 2003.

remember, even 3dmark2001se was GPU limited when it first came out.
    atleast, thats what futuremark says

    Thx guys
I think its a trade off, maybe I should do a lower gpu and higher mem. Thing is its more power issues than anything, the 12v is at 11v for the cards, need to get a better power supply than the generic ones I used. The Asus cards doesn't get me any cold throttling... I'm so thankful fo that.
The cards are hitting powering walls than cooling ones it seems.
