    Dothan screams like scalded CAT!!!

    Yeah,
    hehehehehe....
So out of the box DFI 855Gme with shipping BIOS, default voltage and stock cooler....
    Dothan 1.7gHz @ 2.5gHz.... that's nearly 50% OC @ 1.34v.

Now the issues....at default Vdimm, I can't run the BH-5 north of 200mHz and oddly enough.... PQI Turbo TccD (256mb) won't boot at cas 2.5?????? Running CAS2-3-3-7 the TccD is good to about 240mHz at 2.5v.

I don't have many benches yet, I can't get the onboard LAN to work. I installed the LAN driver and enabled it in Control Panel and in BIOS, but the board just won't "see" my DSL Modem.... and I only have a few apps on disc. So I'll use the A64 rig to burn some apps on a disc and run more benchies later. So here's what I've got for ya....

    Nice!

That ram bandwidth is just killing it though. If intel, or anybody can get this out with dual channel, and a higher fsb, it'll be a destructive force...

Edit: Whens the dry ice go on?

Is that the DFI board or one with ICH4? The memory controller hub could be the culprit. Do you have a cross-over cable? You could link up with your other system just to make sure it's not a bad RJ-45 port on the new board.

I can get the b/w up quite a bit.... it seems picky with stick types. Now I'm playing with lower multi's and picking up a bit of mem speed. Next onto the new BIOS and the voltmods.

if your tccd cant do 2-2-2-5 at 200fsb and especially below that, somethings wrong. nice dothan overclock, is it fast enough for 30k with NO ondie controller, low fsb and single channel? let us know!

Update.... BIOS 12/10/04 fixed the TccD issue.

But running the BH-5 this is the best it can do @ 2.5v

It's SERIOUSLY sooo funny. The northbridge is actually warmer than the CPu HS/F.
Right now I'm comparing this to my newcastle 2800+ and the Dothan WHACKS it.

I really wan to try the OCZ DDR Booster, but I've heard rumors of the BLUE SMOKE, lol...

    Ohhhhh......

She likes TCCD with the 12/10 BIOS....
    33s sPi @ <2400mHz

Wonder what FX53 (2400mHz) runs default sPi??

Ok, so still at default Vcore (1.34), default Vdimm (2.5v) and default cooler, this pretty decent. Can't wait to employ the mods.
Now just imagine the TccD running at about 280 or so....
Tried using the "Ricky tweak", but ACPI Multiprocessor is not an available driver option.

yeah, that initial low mem b/w from the first BIOS really hurt.....with the newer BIOS and the TCCD it's more like 11.5K now...

Of course, it does! They are very similar CPUs, in terms of IPC, etc - except that, in this case the Dothan has clock advantage - by good 600Mhz . Then again, these things are only any good at games...

    But yeah, Penitum-M rules!

im still curious how it does in 3dmark, should be as good as a 2.3GHz fx or MHz for MHz like a 2.5GHz winchester. the only dothan 3dmark I saw was a 30k score last month with a 2.6GHz and x800xt one.

That is sweet Charlie! Good luck with your new setup.
Do you have a clawhammer around that you could compare with? That would even out the l2 cache difference a bit.

Charles, intersting play around w/ this Dothan Will you try some 3D w/ it?
Like many others, I think Intel could get "back in the game" if they just spiced it up w/ a proper chipset and some decent support. They could still work on their dual-core stuff, but that way they wouldn't be the caboose in 3D for 2005, lol.

Of course I know that a $200 cpu is NO FX-55 beater....
But it's the shiniest thing in Intel's lineup right now and is rather intriguing. Let me repeat this....
The CPU doesn't get warm. At all. No issues with cooling, whatsoever. That's really weird. This CPU is a freak.
And yes, I have a x800xt PE, and will run plenty of 3D. I tend to think that this CPU will do better in '03 and '05 than '01. I'll cool the CPU with DI, I'll cool the card with DI, I'll give it all a try. But "good" lobbies and Car Hi can only go so far, so don't expect much in '01.
