    DDR594 : 2-2-2-10 : Dual Channel : OCZ VX OWNS YOU!!!

Winchester memory controllers suck butt! I've said it too many times, but I just can't seem to say it enough. I proved it with my retail chip. I proved it again with my friend's OEM 3000+. And I'll prove it again once AMD authorizes my RMA and ships me a new unit. All gripes aside, let's move on to the good stuff.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 939 CPU with a crap memory controller: $150
OCZ DDR Booster, which just so happens to be my third in a month: $40
OCZ EL PC-3200 VX 2x512MB Kit that I stressed over on 11/30/2004: Freakin' priceless!

There are some things that money can't buy. For everything else, there's a 12-pack of Heineken in the fridge.

I'll be back in an hour or so with a Memtest screenshot.

Too bad that the mem aint' running anywhere near 297 there.. 4x multi is something you dont want to use for mem testing.. (BH5 has been up to '366' w/ 4x multi and 2-2-2-5).

Use 6x and see where u get

The 4X multi acctually gives it a 5X divider, right?

    EDIT: I was too slow.

    Conrad,

I think you will be dissapointed when you see the bandwidth. As far as i know, you are only running at 198 or 199 htt.

Your ram is actually at 237mhz. Did you pass out after that 12 pack of Heineken. When you wake up and realize the speed you're really running you're going to need another 12 pack of Heineken .

You guys are absolutely right. A 4 multiplier is equivalent to 4/5. 237.6MHz is very disappointing...hahaha!

The more I bump up my HTT, the more I have to drop multipliers. I'll try 5 right now since that'll make it 1/1.

    I'm so embarassed...hahaha!

I made the same mistake and bragged how my corsair value did 300x4 at 1:1 when the ram was really at 240

I can't get any higher than 265MHz with a 5 multiplier. Oh well.

Anyway, this thread is going down in history as the most embarassing moment in my online life. I got so carried away just dropping the CPU multipliers so I can raise the HTT and it totally slipped my mind that in order to run 1/1, you need to use a 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and so on. I even posted about this last night, but the excitement just carried me away.

Well, I'll drink another beer and laugh it off when my wife gets home.

Here's something I should keep in front of my display at all times:

Look, Mom. I'm famous. 260+ page views in just over 2 hours. I could be a dork about this whole thing and just delete my post. But I'll be a good sport, ride it out, and laugh with you all. Let this be a lesson to you, gentlemen. Don't let the excitement get the best of you and DO NOT POST when your excitement levels are at an all time high.

To err is human. Stay tuned. I just might do DDR812 with my VX in dual channel next month.

Indeed, it would be sweet. When I started looping Memtest and noticed that it made it through 15 passes of Test #5, I turned on my other computer and started shopping for an FX-55. I was seriously going to drop a good $870 today out of impulse - all because the excitement got the best of me.

even if it does do 297, BH5 still wins:

I used to have links here demonstrating how awesome I am, but it's been so long that they're not very relevant (and the pictures have disappeared), so I guess I'll have to get working on new stuff.
