Wink Three stage cascade - One stage at a time

I'm moving kinda slow on this project. It takes alot of cash, plus I've been waiting on some part. We all bought methane for the third stage, but it doesn't look like it's gonna work, according to Chilly1s test. Maybe we can find some r14 or something else as good.

I got my second stage running this weekend.

I have a TVX on the first stage and at the present time I have 10 ft of 031 on the second stage. As soon as I get my third stage compressor in the mail I will see what I can pull down.

Second - third stage HX inlet -106C - outlet -103C Is that gonna be cold enough Chilly1? - PC_ICE?

Thats an understatment...lol...funny how that was the first thing that stuck out when i looked at the pics..i smirked and said to myself "look at the size of the condensor" lololol....anyway too bad Methane won't work as a second stage gas, it has a boiling point of -161c!. why not try liquid Helium (R-704)? it has a boiling point -269C (just kidding btw) lol

Really nice piping job runmc, I think it looks a lot better when guys put in the effort to produce a good looking cascade (much like Hobocrow). Good stuff.

Detract, LOL! Just because we've never been seen @ the same time and place doesn't mean that we're the same person! I'm not Runmc and nor is he ... me!

I do appreciate you placing me in his great company though!

I was meaning to say that I really enjoyed the quality of your cascade over at the teampuss forums and that runmc is showing the same attention to detail in his system.

I did not mean to be offensive, it was kinda of a joke ( odd humor, I guess, like friends do to each other) ... Be asured that I considered your post to be a compliment.

Thank you for your kind words ... if I can help you with your project, you can count on me!

I can't even get hold of R50 here without some alcohol license, they're afraid I might manufacture some killa drink with that
I'm thinking R14+R50 would be a good blend for a 3rd stage, R50 by itself is too light perhaps...
Gotta find another source for R50

looks good, looks good!!! put a sheet of steel on it give it a red paint and we sell it as a ferrari!
What temps u aiming at? it can be smaller but if its the first 1 i get it some time and u make it look super its looking now too dont take me wrong but is a bit too big imo.

Ps : for the guys with experience in refrigeration! are the dehumidifiers woking on very low temps? lets say min 50 or so! thx

What problems do you get with methane? If you want some T-P data, I have a chart here. Its psia, if u want gauge pressure just subtrack 14.7 from the pressure. At -105ºC you are looking at 295psi condensing pressures. You can see though that the condensing pressure goes up at around 10psi/ºC in this temp range

runmc that beast rocks, nice temps.
got to love those compressors along with r14.
is -111c the suction line temp before your accumulator or is that the second stage temp
