Air Cooled Gallery
The other cooling forums have their own galleries. Why doesn't the air cooling forum have one ? I say we start it up Air cooling doesn't mean you can't be extreme

It works for me.
Thats a 120x38MM 1amp fan. Its not even too loud. The HS is a heavily modded VGA silencer.

Does this Radeon 9800 Pro air cooling mod qualify for the Xtreme Air Cooling label?

Cool mod Mini
I was thinking about using one of the big SLK's for the core too, but settled for the smaller SLK600 as I wanted to make some HUGE sinks for the BGA's. Seeing your mod I might reconsider the mod though - xtreme is never xtreme enough
Btw: Why aren't you using two fans on top of that SLK900U

The Hyper 6 is a nice heatsink, isn't it? Here's a crappy phonecam pic of my work in progress mod of it on my 9800 Pro
It'll probably end up with 2 Tornados in push-pull, it all hinges on whether the AGP extender I'm getting will run the card alright, as otherwise I'd need to dremel out my PCI slots for the cooler to fit centrally on the core Need to chop up some huge BGA sinks for it too, the current ones are abysmal, and the new ones aren't big enough for my liking - turned two of these, i865 NB sinks...
...into eight of these
Pics of the complete card when finished

Well it's not going in a case, I can tell you that for free The weight would shear the card in half. It'll just be a motherboard-sitting-on-box job like it is now, with the cooler resting on the PCI slots. I've had to buy an AGP extender too, which will make the board even less portable Expect some sort of ghetto mod like Coke bottle caps to hold the cooler up off the PCI slots as with the extender in there'll be a bit of a gap between it and the board. HaLDoL just broke Stang's aircooled XP record, I'd like to shoot for that if at all possible

Thanks guys - yours are pretty godlike too, LOL Anyone got any quick suggestions as to what would be relatively safe to push the voltages to with this cooling? I'm also thinking of trying to get something for the backside of the GPU but I have no idea how I'd buffer it from crushing the SMD resistors...

What did you do to that video card? Have you ever had it to run hot by any chance?
I just had to ask.
Yep, first post. Noobie over here, well to here anyway.

I've been told that the max voltage on the core is about 2.0V and on the mem 3.20-3.40V. For record benching you could go 2.10V on the core and 3.4-3.5V on the mem. Mine is fed 1.96V on the core and 3.08V on the mem on a daily basis.
As to the back of the GPU, I made a sink for my old GF 4 Ti 4200 that fit right in the middle of the core where there's no risistors. Mounted it with thermal tape. Meassures: 30x30x25mm (LxWxH). What you do is to cut away some of the base without resizing the overall deminsions of the base. The result should be a sink with app. 10x10mm contact surface that fits in the middle of the core back with a bigger overall base size of 30x30mm. I haven't got any pic's but I hope the description makes sense to you.
I haven't been able to do that mod to my R9800Pro due to the Swiftech MCX159-R sitting on my northbridge.
Good luck

Welcome to the madness
You can rest assured that the card runs hot when gaming a few hours

This is my Soltek Barebone...
I have mounted a Zally CNPS7000A-Cu on my A64....
I still need some Vmods on the mobo, cause i can only give the CPU 1.55vcore and 2.8vdimm, and thats just NOT enough for me
I want to overclock this bastard
So rigth now its just running stock-speed (Pretty Xtreme, huh ) and i cant live with that
Another pic...
