Swiftech to release heatsinks for HD6900 series

    Hi All,

I am pleased to announce that we will soon (ETA 3 weeks) be releasing Heatsinks for Radeon HD6950 (1 & 2 Gb using new PCB) and HD6970 (New PCB).

Here are pics of the 6950 solution. Note that there was not enough space to include 80mm fan holes in this heatsink, but there was enough for an optional 60x15mm fan.

and here are preview pics of the 6970 solution, which has mounting holes (2 only) for an optional 80x15mm fan:

Both of the above solutions use pre-installed thermal pads for the memory, and hard/mount (grease) for the VR's.

Both also have thru openings in the VR areas allowing air-flow to circulate under the sink.

If ANYONE say's it's about time, I will shoot him.

So I am saying it first: it's about time!

Oh, and I almost forgot, yes they are also compatible with MC60's.

awesome gabe have you actually got any prototypes which have been tested or ? looks like a good /cheap idea!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

Damn dude! Do you every sleep? Looks awesome. I wish it had been out a few weeks earlier, but better late than never. One question, does the heatsink transfer any heat to the waterblock or do you need really good airflow?

HSF and W/B are 100% separa, so no interaction there, one way or the other.

Any idea about what the price should be? And why no hard mount for the memory?

Great to see these blocks are getting made.

Any chance there will be unisinks for the GTX580?

Whenever I upgrade from my 4870 (no reason for me to do that yet) I hope there is something like this available for whatever card I get so I can continue using my MCW60 instead of buying an expensive full cover block

IIRC the original HD6950 revision is identical to the original HD6970, so I guess neither of them has a unisink coming, sadly.

Wait, the 6950 and 6970 have changed? Let me guess, no more quick-n-easy 6950>6970 bios modding now?

They changed since the initial production run that utilized the volterra VRM's instead of the TI ones on all the cards now. PCB layout was also changed.

I'm wondering what it would take to convince Gabe to make a version for the original reference design... I would have assumed that there's was fair number of original ref boards already out there...
I don't really wanna get full cover blocks, but I also don't think some small sinks (like these) are enough for the VRs...
