    Gigabyte B3 Boards Really New?

My brother and I have received our B3 boards. Mine is directly from Gigabyte. My brother's is from Newegg. Both our boards have a sticker with the new model number over the old model number.

Are these Gigabyte boards really new or is Gigabyte really just refurbishing boards and sending them out?

what's the difference for the end user ? You still get the normal warranty even if it has been previously abused... good fast work GB crew !
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

they are 100000% brand new, the PCB may have already been premade but componentry that gets put on them later would have been updated hence why label is on it, definitely not a repair job

    According to GB web site,
    UD4;UD3;UD3P and UD3R - B3 series should be Rev.1.1.
So far, mostly are Rev.1.0 and sticker on board.

That is interesting. The UD7 I got has B3 marking on the pcb, no sticker. Says rev 1.0 though not 1.1.

Audio chip is the same on UD7, ALC889. What did the UD4 change to? Same thing?

I put B2 and B3 UD7 side by side and went chip to chip and there are 0 differences that I could see. UD4 seems to have a few changes though.

    UD7-B3 and UD5-B3 are still Rev.1.0.
The rest B3 should be Rev.1.1.(e.g.UD4-B3 on PCB Rev.1.1).

I suppose that means that UD7 and UD5 did not get hardware changes and the others did. ALC889 for everybody most likely.

    Has anyone TRIED crossflashing?
    That's the question.

I know you have to use an SPIflash with ID check disabled.
    You can try http://www.mediafire.com/?ztnl3xlwjwd
    or http://g0rbi.000space.com/index.php?id=11

The g0rbi spiflash may be newer. I take absolutely NO responsibility for any of this.

My GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 has that new model number (GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3) on a sticker that's placed over the first model number (GA-H67MA-UD2H). It has "Rev.1.1" silkscreened onto the PCB though, not a sticker.

GB until they can get stocks up probably just replaced all B2 chipsets with B3 chipsets (and maybe replaced the audio chip in some cases) then sent the boards back out. Very simple for a manufacturer to do and theres no harm done as nobody got a chance to really abuse those B2 boards.

i had too on my ud7 the mouse did not even work.
try to unistall all chipset drivers first before trying the b3 maybe you can get away it? be sure to use the same port as your b2 also.

some have told me they did not have any issues at all just a staight swap.

ot my ud7 board is listed as rev. 1.1

You'll still have to reactivate, no matter what.
The entire hardware ID is changed. It just won't ASK you to reactivate for three days, unlike when you first installed the original board. Just run the activation wizard, call the 800 number and takes 5 minutes and you're done.

Some people can get it to activate online.
