I kinda doubt they will be shipping on the 4th. You would think the would have pics of the pre-production unit on their web site by now.

EK didn't have pictures of their 6870 blocks until after they were shipped. just as a possible uplifter.. : )

it's great to hear a fc block for this, as a r3e is waaaaaay to e'Xtreme' for me and the formula would be a perfect intel board for me.

Speaking from recent experience, they shipped the VID-NX580 on the date originally posted and they did not have a pic until the day or maybe the day before shipped. The second shipment also went out on the posted date. The date of Jan 4th is posted on the page an has been since it was announced on the 21st.

Of course, anything can happen, but I would have no doubts about the dates. Considering the materials listed, I imagine it will have the same look as their new gpu blocks for 580 and 6XXX series.

As for the R3F vs R3E, if you dont need 4 PCIe slot, why going for the R3E. Thats it ! And now that the R3F have a FC bloc too, nothing can make me change

These are being made in limited quantities since the boards have been out for awhile. But if we see enough demand, it doesn't necessarily matter how old the hardware is.

You guys&gals have such a clean tech look going on with the new gpu blocks, which I imagine will carry into this mobo FC, that I wouldn't be surprised if someone at customs thought they could be parts to a nefarious device

Sorry, I spoke too soon on the ETA. We had a machining issue last week that will delay our Rampage III Formula block by one week (new ETA is 1/10).

It didn't affect our launch of the Crosshair IV Extreme block, which is still due today.
