Can't get two nvidia cards working on motherboard

I have a Crossfire board, but i am not trying to SLI...

the board is, asus m489gtd pro usb3

i just want to use two nvidia cards for F@H

    i have a 9800 GT, and GTX 460

    both are working independently..

when both plugged in, only the bottom card is recognized

..both PCIe slots work, but the top drops to x8

    1) 890GX only supports 2 8X lanes

    2) There is a BIOS update that supposedly fixes the issue of 2 nvidia cards not being detected.

yes, and what's a dummy plug?

Same here... Apparently there is some compatibility issue with different NVIDIA BIOS versions that ASUS is still trying to solve. I don't have identical cards to try with, but I have a pool of CUDA cards to choose from and no combination works : GTX 460, GTS 250, GT 240, GT 8600... always detecting a single GPU.

are there any issues if say a 5770 in the top x16 and a lsi 92604i raid card in the bottom one? I am able to bench with the card but cant confirm what speed the 9260 is running at. since cpuz shows x8/x8 out of x16 then I am assuming its cool.

Are you using one monitor on each gpu ? Did you clear the CMOS ?
