    Crossfire Stopped Working

    *Problem Solved*

I was running x8 on both cards and x16 with one card and now I don't even have the option to enable crossfire in CCC. It says that the second card is disabled. Now I can only run x8 in the bottom PCIE slot and x1 in the upper PCIE slot. I've tried uninstalling drivers with driver sweep, reinstalling drivers, swapping out crossfire bridges, updating bios, swapping cards around but nothing seems to work. Not sure when this problem actually started but I will tell you it use to run x8 in crossfire for both cards and x16 with one card.

    Here are some screen shots.

If more screenshots are needed to trouble shoot please let me know and I'll post them up.

MB is an Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3

    Thanks,

    Have you done a full reset of your BIOS? Try;

    1. Remove power cord
    2. Remove CMOS battery
    3. Set CMOS jumper to "clear"
    4. Push power button 2-3 times holding in for a few secs each time.
    5. Leave for 5 mins.

Power everything back up, enter BIOS and load setup defaults, save and exit. See if PCI-E settings have been properly restored.

CCC shows the second card as disabled. Are both cards popping up in Device Manager and enabled/working properly?

I've reset cmos properly, uninstalled and installed drivers twice, swapped pci-e power from psu. Currently only running 1 card in the x16 slot and its only running in x8. I can take that same card and put it in slot 2 and it will run at x1. If I install both cards with crossfire bridge slot 2 reads x8 and slot 1 reads x1 with no option to enable crossfire in CCC.

    I'm at a loss here.

AS you taken the BIOS steps already my next suggestion would be whats been suggested. Uninstall Cats 10.6, driver sweep them, even use regedit to delete remaining ATi strings that will be kicking around, and install Cats 10.3 or 10.4. See if the issue is resolved then.

Also, you might want to do a reinstall of your mobo chipset drivers as well.

I've done the driver sweep twice and reinstalled 10.6. I'm not sure how to do the regedit thing to completely clear the drivers. How do I do that?

Thanks everyone I really need to figure this out.

Would I have to uninstall the old ones first or just download the same drivers off the ASUS website and overwrite the existing drivers?

Just overwrite them As to the regedit thing, heres how to do it; Start>Run>type "regedit" without quotes>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>delete the ATi entries.

Well, bad news, it didn't work. 10.3 and 10.4 didn't take for some reason. Kept getting a driver error after reboot.

I've even gone as far as installing W7 64bit on a spare drive with fresh drivers. Problems are all still there.

    1. No "Enable Crossfire" option in CCC.

    2. PCIE 1 only running x1

    3. PCIE 2 only running x8

I should be running x8 in crossfire or x16 with a single GPU.

    What the Frak!!

At this point with you going as far as a fresh install and trying to install earlier drivers without success, I'd say its time to RMA the mainboard. The electronic switching gates are probably buggered.

I would say, try and clean the contacts of the GPU's, Then try swapping the 1st card into the 2nd slot. Vice Versa.

    Happened to me once.

Unless those cards have been sitting in their slots for a year or more with the system being hot as hell to boot, I don't see how cleaning the contacts with a rubber would help. That said, sometimes long shots work.

Out of curiosity, change your EnableCrossfire registry string to 0x0000000 and see what happens.

Set Enable Crossfire to 0x0000000. No change.

    Rebooted. No change.

Restart Runtime in CCC. No change.

Set Enable Crossfire back to 0x0000001. Still fracked
