    I call it... THE MEGAMINI!!!!

    Specs:

    Asus Maximus III Gene Mobo
    Thermaltake 850w PSU
Apevia X-Qpack2 Case (slightly modified to fit PSU, also Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm exhaust)
    Intel i7-870 CPU
    G.Skill DDR3 RAM (4GB, for now)
    2 - Asus EAH5870 GPUs
    Zalman CNPS8700 (unmodified)
    2 - Seagate 320GB 2.5" HDD RAID0 (OS HDD)
    2 - Seagate 500GB 3.5" HDD RAID0 (Program HDD)
    DVD burner

I can't believe I got it all to fit, but it's exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to make a very powerful yet portable computer that was upgradeable, and I succeeded. The modified CNPS8700 from my other thread DOES fit, this is just a "dry" fit. The modified version has like only 3-4mm clearance, but it works!

    Pics!

Honestly when it's said and done I can't even imagine the noise it's going to make at 100% fans, but it's going to be glorious! If anyone has a problem with it, tough I have headphones LOL

This is nice! However I bet the upper card (whose fan is blocked by the other) will reach 90C for sure.

Nice.....Much props. Portable, Powerful, with much potential. 6GB on that triple channel board and you'll be set! May run a little hot, but if no alarms are set off the heat issue shouldn't be amn issue. The 5870s run cool, relatively, and these beast PCBs can handle up to 100c... just raise the alarm limits a tad and run the fan's at automatic. I don't think 100% constant would be necessary.

I'm going to run the full 16GB that the board will allow eventually. As you can mostly see from one of the pics, the Zalman cooler mostly covers one of the RAM slots. My intent was to use G.Skill's Ripjaw 4GB DDR3 sticks but I literally have only millimeters to spare between the RAM that's in there now and the bottom of the HSF. The normal Ripjaw memory heat spreader just won't fit. After talking with G.Skill it looks like it'll be possible to remove the Ripjaw ramsink and squeeze the memory under there. Just need to do it with one and that's the plan! And no, 100% fan isn't going to be the norm but I can't wait to hear it.

I think you're getting a little confused there. The board used in this build is P55, not X58 - no triple channel. 2GB, 4GB, 8GB or max 16GB using 4GB DIMMs - but 16GB would be silly for a gaming rig.

I'm thinking that the heatpipes on top would hit the PSU

The cards appear to have more than sufficient air flow. The vents you see on top of the cards are right under the 140mm fan of the PSU, so on top of getting exhausted out the back it's also getting sucked out of the top!

It's impressive, but I wonder how those cards are going to get airflow to cool them off lol, it looks like there's hardly any space to get cool air in, unless you have a fan blow in their direction. If it does run cool, you've got an ultra portable super-PC.

Starting off my love of pcs was with multiple SFF builds and looking at that rig, it's gonna be hot. Nice but hot. There is still room for a couple more fans, you going to add anymore? Or knock out that top window and put in a black honeycomb grill.

Nice looking project! Looking forward to seeing some overclocking in that case. Wonder how high you will be able to push it, and at what temps.
