I miah was concerned with degrading his chip as the 32nm dual cores died frequently.

NCSpec killed his retail 980X, not sure what settings he was running. Then you also have Patch who killed a 980X ES.....thats gotta sting....

    yiks!
I have a B batch - I've been doing alot of benching with chilled water - vcore 1.55-1.65, vtt - 1.4 to 1.42, temps up to 80-82C. aside from toasting the power cables to my tecs (probably way too much current draw) all is well so far. I have a SS on the way from sdumper in a couple weeks - I should resist the urge to push the v's until i can get the proc at -40.

If I understand you right, this sounds more like factory-defect, than dead because of too much OC or voltages. Is it so you think?

Yep - UD7 - me too, ok - so perhaps I will be a little more careful.
I thought maybe an off the wall mobo let a voltage spike thru but I would think that's likely to be the case with a UD7.

My chip has no CB...CBB is at -155. I've had 2 6 hours session on LN2 with up to 1.9V and it's still overclocking like mad. Tried both the UD7 and the E760.

What's very interesting to me is that it seems very unstable at 100% stock setting, I get BSOD just after hitting the desktop in Vista (while the OS attempts to auto install the CPU driver)....OC it and the BSOD goes away

So, I installed Win XP, and it was fine until I got to the part where the OS is installing the drivers for the Intel processor (12 times), and while installing the 11th, BSOD...repeated numerous times at default setting. Obviously something wrong with the CPU. OC'ed it to 4.5GHz w/ 1.4V and the driver installed fine...CPU behaves normally

This chip was made for me

Q4EG is B1 Stepping, and should theoretically be identical to the retail. A0 was totally different, have I heard, but how different are these B1(ES) actually?
