    HD5850 - Toxic / VaporX / XFX mod. 585X-ZAFC - Have Volt Mod?

    Hello ..

I have a XFX HD5850 Model 585X-ZAFC, which manufactured with the same PCB of the Sappire Toxic and Vapor-X.

They do not support software volt-mod.

Does anyone know where I find a guide to doing a physical Volt-MOD?

    Thank you.

Measure resistance from pin 17 to ground please.

Arrow id's pin 1, it's counter clockwise from there.

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong anyone.

Here is a picture of the chip ...

I could not measure the resistance of the pin 17 because I was afraid to close short ... tomorrow isolate in back with tape and make the measure safely.

Um you can measure resistance without card on or installed in computer, this is not VGPU read point where we need power to card.

So if I measure the resistance there and then check some of the bare places to see if by shorting them I change that resistance? That would be a place for a pencil mod?

I took better pictures of the board.

It is difficult to see the tracks with the black PCB.

Will we now can someone tell me if the mod's HD5870 Vapor-X works on my HD5850?

    Thanks....

Looks like you have the meter in the wrong range. My guess is thats actually a 7.5K reading in the correct range.

Use a 100K res at measure points ( yellow lines ) to ground.

I would go 100K res at pad/and to ground and cut the blue wire and add a jumper in between to eliminate fan/software issues.

Very nice guys thats working perfectly, use a 200k instead.

Agora soh pq eu tive trabalho nao quer dizer q a placa ia ser boa de over e subir horrores, mas enfim pelo menos deu pra passar a minha powercolor que travava em 980Mhz e nao passava nem com reza.

but after that, something went wrong, and the PCie conector, input capacitor was in the floor of the case. Very strange, because there was no signs of dammage, it just felt w/ his legs intact.

Anyway, I haven't noticed and literally fired up the computer.

Got to warn you guys about something, even w/ the 200k trimpot the smaller voltage I could get was 1.25v, so you will definately need an aftermarket cooler to use it 24/7.

pictures after turning on the computer w/out the capacitor.
