    Image size in topics..

    Hi folks.
This is something that has been bothering me for quite some time but it hasn't been until now that I'm using my not-so-new laptop that I realized how much a PITA this is: why there are no rules regarding image size in this forum? Nobody needs huge images at all as everybody that uses a mid-sized monitor (or a small one) will get the hole forum re-sized which is a pita to follow through, and lets not talk about time to load that image; and everything could be solved just puting a max image reasonable size and adding the high-res, high-quality images using thumbnails or links..

Any way to fix it? What are your thoughts about it?

    Cheers.

Exactly. There are many plugins/hacks/features that we would like to see them being implemented with this site. Yet, I don't even know why we don't see them here for years.

yes please add the plugin, this would make browsing so much better
here at XS.i cant stand when someone adds a giant picture and it
just ruins the page, after that everytime you look at that page you
play the scroll to the right game.

Oh please not, I love XS for being one of the few sites that doesn't resize pictures....

I hate having to click on thousands of thumbnails to get the info I want.

well they dont necessarily have to be thumbnails, but like 1024x768 maybe instead of having pics that are a full 10MP+

Don't put limitations on a site that pushes the limits. Go to Overclock.net if you want the website to only utilize 1/3 of your monitor.

The best solution I have found is to close the tab and go on to a different thread.

Just a bit of an FYI.
The last I had heard, Fugger was working on updating vBulletin, which, if we were to do any hacks/add-ons etc, would have to be re-done once the update is done. So any of those that we've discussed have been put at least partially on hold.

As for the actual image resizing, there is a hack that will re-size an image to fit your screen.
It doesn't create a thumbnail, which is annoying I agree, but it won't allow an image to stretch your screen either. So basicly, by my understanding of the hack, is it will fit the image, to your screens resolution without altering the layout of the forums, as viewed by your screen.
IMO, is the best possible alternative to any other image hack I've seen. I am pushing for that once we get vB updated.

We're talking more along the line when somebody posts a 3+MP picture. Most monitors don't display 2048x1536 last I checked.

Isn't there a mod/hack that makes only the post with the big assed image need side scrolling? Leaving the rest of the thread at normal size would be awesome.

You know what? It's a matter of laziness. It's as simple as hitting 4 (FOUR) times people's keyboards:

I'm a member of many photo communities and all over the world people CAN manage and discipline themselves to do that and it works brilliantly...

Don't just wait for a plug-in, do it yourself!!!!

Seriously? Bold, italic and underlined "phrase" in my previous link says nothing? It's not a secret knowledge - google what "s800" before file's name will do with a picture... (actually it doesn't need to be 800 though, might be less, it was just an example)

    Without:

    With s800:

Simple as that. You can scale it down further...

Well considering I had zero idea what you were talking about (other than image sizing), yes, it did need a bit better of an explanation.
However, this time, it made sense.
Interesting, I had never heard of that before.

Thank you for sharing it... I might just start editing posts using that.

    *EDIT*
Is there a way to add into the same thing to allow the image to be 'clickable' to see the full size image?
    *end EDIT*

Yea, I got that. That is using a hack, which as I mentioned earlier, any add on hacks or mods are on hold at minimum until we get our vB updated.
    This .......
