NVIDIA Statement on GTX 400 Series "Pre-Orders"

NVIDIA has released the following statement regarding pre-orders of their next generation GeForce graphics cards featuring the GF100 GPUs based on the Fermi nanoarchitecture:
NVIDIA and our launch partners have not released pricing or pre-order information yet. Any Web sites claiming to be taking pre-orders should not be considered legitimate.
At this time, pre-order sites should be not be considered legitimate in anyway. In most cases, the sites are likely scammers.

You especially shouldn't believe the inflated "pre-order" price.

LOL - good to see they they squashed the hopes of the "high anxiety" type and did nothing for the people that knew better

They were too obviously fake though...The specs were not very believable at all, and there hasn't even been an official statement about those from nVidia.

That hasn't stopped people from repeating it ad nauseum as if it were fact though.

This isn't gonna be over for a looong time...

how long until we get a benchmark that involves rendering wood screws? Maybe falling screws with GPU-powered physics and accurately-modelled threads, reflection and all..?

No one forced nvidia to try and pass off a fake card held together by said wood screws as real either. They made their bed...

    Nanoarchitecture ?
    That's less then 10nm.
Fermi until it gets in stock is more of a No No Architecture.

So you're ChirsRay's replacement, or you're just posting the message because it's important?

I've been a focus group member for several years now. I worked with Chris for a long time. There is no replacing him, I'm just getting the message out.

Probably some of these ATi-kids has made a whole fake store.

This GPU-business is becoming more like monkey-business, with too much focus on propaganda/PR, and too little focus on the technical reality av such a important hardware.

    Doubt that.
Just a PR act on the company's behalf.
They got into so many news reports...

We're getting off-topic, but the broadly accepted consensus throughout the sciences is that anything smaller than 100nm is any single dimension is considered "nanotechnology."

Features of a modern 40nm GPU are 1/25th the micron scale. We don't call it .04 micron fabrication. Nanoarchitecture is a more accurate term than microarchitecture. The same logic is essentially true for the past half decade or so in CPU architecture.

This is just pathetic so now we have nVidia officially commenting on the pre-orders of a podunk website that listed up their vapourware? I am beyond tired of the rhetoric; deliver or stfu.

tbh if nvidia done that as a tech demo for dx11 they would actually get quite a few fans from it cos it would be them admitting they where wrong.
