Vmod for NCP 5395 Graphics (Giga GTX 260 SOC - 55nm) - UPDATED!

Hi, maybe it is not so smart move now ... because "Beat Me If You Dare" competition. But i dont keep this mod only for myself and here is ... working Mod for Gigabyte GTX 260/275 Super Overclock Graphics ... maybe helps you..

This mod is applicable on every GFX with ON Semiconductor regulator NCP 5395. First one is vGPU mod, with 470kOhm (or lesser, i had this one) trimmer soldered on pin 18 and ground. You can see it on pic 1. Next here is theoretical OCP mod, but i dont needed it for good results ...

For example, 1,3V on GPU needs 8,5 kOhms on trimmer ...

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 260 SOC version ...

vGPU measuring point + ground (PCI connector from PSU)

    Easy to install ...

    Perfectly working ... tested

------------------------- This mod is for ***, look at new version ... fully working, without OCP/OVP trigger -------------------------------

    Pls exchange A (R1025) and B (R1022). A->B; B->A

And you can use the adjustable resistance on C (C157). I tryed resistors from 100 Ohms - 470k Ohms, best results i have with 10 kOhms trimmer. Card works perfectly with 1,52V on GPU and was fully stable in 3DMark Vantage ... at 1098 MHz ... no OVP/OCP triggering ... tested on GTX 260 and GTX 275, working really great!

You do have OVP at 1.3V-ish, right?

    Massman, I am getting OVP @ 1.275V 900MHz Core....

anyone seen a OVP mod for the Gigabyte SOC card?

Card has OVP around .1v above VID voltage. OCP appears to trip around 1000/2000 Core/Shader regardless of voltage.

Some of them will shut down at 1.270V and some at 1.31V max...
Also there is NO WAY to avoid this OVP due to the design of this chip....

TIP: A way to avoid OVP on this VGA is ONLY if you play with it's VIDs...
    NO OTHER WAY....

PLUS that afterwards you NEED to "seperate" the IMAX pin of the chip from the switching frequenccy pin of it because IF you JUST solder a trimmer to ground, when you trim it you may change the IMAX limit of it BUT you - at the SAME TIME - change the frequency of the switching power circuit...
So you HAVE to seperate those two and have one trimmer for the swiching frequency and one trimmer for the IMAX......
PLUS that you want another one for the VTT of the core....

this card is totaly c*ap, on 1,28V GPU deeply under 1000 MHz, my old good 65nm GTX 260 does 1000+ at 1,2V , really great GAUNTLET GPUS ...
i think last G200 in storage must be sold, here are ...

I was just kidding about the clocks
We have a GTX 260 Super Overclock card on the way.
I'm gonna visit Crio tomorrow and LN2 it for the gigabyte contest.

Depending on our time I'll either go via firmware modding or full hardware mod ( VID ) + PWM reinforcement + Vdroop mod
