    Weird NB clocking issue

I've stumbled upon a really strange issue with my 550BE (unlocked).

I can't boot above 210 x 12 = 2520mhz NB, it won't even let me post. But once booted into Windows I can rais my HT ref. and easily bench at 3000mhz and above on the NB in Super Pi, wPrime, PiFast etc. and my CPU is good for 3950mhz with a TRUE and a crappy 1200rpm fan mounted on it (waiting for my Ultra Kaze).

I got the system in signature with MSI 790FX-GD70.
    1. I've tried both with my 550BE as a dual-core and unlocked both give me the same issue.
    2. I've tried BIOS 1.5b6 and 1.7b5 exactly the same issue with both without a difference.
    3. My memory clock and divider DOESN'T impact my results, my issue remains to same even with high clocks/tight timings or low clocks/loose timings.

So it doesn't seem to be a stability issue as I can bench rockstable at 3000mhz with appropriate voltage, but if I even try to boot above 2520mhz on the NB I get a black screen and need to perform a Clear CMOS.

This issue is really strange atleast to me, so does anyone have any idea what could be causing my problems, anyone with this board had the same kind of problem?

It's probably a BIOS related issue, not board(hardware). I'd just stick with clocking from OS if possible and avoid HTT clocking from BIOS for now.

    Ok thanks for some confirmation...

My former 720BE had no problem clocking NB to 2800mhz+ and even booting into Vista 64-bit on the same board, but this won't post for me at anything about 2520mhz x13 NB multiplier doesn't work either, 2520mhz is a solid wall for me after that no post, no response, no nothing all that remains is Clear CMOS

    Ok I've isolated the issue.

After BIOS 1.5b7 my NB refuses to work as described above, while BIOS 1.5b6 and older easily allows me to boot into windows at 3000mhz NB... and as I said it doesn't matter if my CPU is a 550BE dual-core or unlocked to a Quad-Core still the same issue so it isn't the IMC crapping out since I can clock my NB to 3000mhz in windows via HT ref. and be extremely benchstable

Here my post on msi-forum.de about the issue hopefully they can get it resolved. http://translate.google.com/translat...istory_state0=
