[Team ID] GIGABYTE P55-UD5 + Intel Core i7-870 LGA 1156 platform

I'm lucky this week, got 4 Core i7-870 which is 3 ES chip and 1 retail chip. Unfortunately, retail chip is not good as one ES chip i got.The only thing good with the retail is can do higher BCLK compare to ES, but not the max CPU Clock. Thanks to GIGABYTE for send the P55-UD5 motherboard, this board looks very promising indeed.

    System Setup

    • Intel Core i7 870 ES (sorry i forgot the batch)
    • Motherboard GIGABYTE P55-UD5P BIOS F4D
    • Graphic Card GIGABYTE NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 216 SP 896 MB GDDR3
    • Memory ADATA DDR3-2200+ 4 GB Kit 2oz PCB Version
    • PSU Enermax Revolution85+ 1050W

Nice indeed.. such is the dilemma, higher bclk + lower max cpu raw clock vs lower bclk + higher max cpu raw clock heh

Yeah agree with you George....i did test about 4 chip and this last chip i got is quite good, 3 chips only can do about 5 ghz only and the worst is the retail one... such a big dilemma.

Yeah have experienced the same with 2x i7 920 3836A75 C0 and 2x i7 920 3851A368 D0 cpus, one of each identical batch clocks bclk easier with 0.1v less cpu vtt than other identical batch, but the other cpu has a higher raw clock alhough all push 230bclk 32M Pi on DFI UT X58 on air/water just cpu vtt varies.

Hopefully, as the weeks go by, more batch # results are shared with i7 8xx series so we can start batch hunting hehe. Thanks in advance for all the hard work Hopefully, Andre goes on crazy buying spree of 100s of i7 8xxx hehe

    Hey abang.....waiting for your result.

Retail i7-870 good in in BCLK but not in CPU Clock... so far that's my result on 2 retail i got. But ES can do more in CPU clock but lower in BCLK.

very nice benching start! I was soooo tempted to play with 1156 but looks like as long as we won't see 5.5 benching stable it seems you still need to buy expensive 950/960 or 975 1366 to keep up the top-notch scores. anyway this looks like a very nice system to bench just for fun and compete among other 1156 scores. thanks for all the benches!

Thanks man ... but i believe Intel will release new stepping, this kind of first appear of 1156 is the same with 1366 C1/C0 stepping. But after D0... we can see 5 GHz +++ CPU clock benchable.

Yeah I also hope with new stepping we see more clocks. Always good to see people playing with new stuph were you can be 100% sure they pushed it until the last MHZ - that saves a lot testing (and money) on my own so I can't say how much I appreciate your testing with that many chips
What would you say about 3D? First things I read is that 1156 is quite ok in that. Sure for SuperPi you are missing trip-chan so that is no surprise at all. I am not that familiar with 260 GTX (and too lazy to look into the bot right now ). Also will you be able to test SLI with 8x/8x? I have no details about performance compared to 1366 yet but quite interested in that
