Well the 7xx series got no HT so they are ~10-15°C cooler then 9xx, but with that voltage id say 80+°C

Yeah, that does look like a lot of voltage for a chip that is suposed to use less vcore on OC. Maybe on a future revision or with a better batch and cooler we can have a better ideia.

PS: This board is really sexy

You say you have a lot of P55 boards lying around? Could you do a BCLK comparision amongst them at say 16x cpu multi for example to see which will go highest? That MSI GD80 board is very nice looking indeed but I still have my slight doubts for MSI. Need some comparisions! Also why didn't you use LLC? I always had better luck with it enabled, lowers the required vcore significantly (yes I know instead it can be higher at load but so what :p)

Also it could be interesting to check which board needs the lowest vcore/vtt for a certain clock, say 4.2GHz for example.

^ This would be of very valuable information for us.

1.45v may be a lot but 4.3GHz is also quite high clock, usually this architecture starts eating vcore for breakfast quickly over 4.0GHz where the scaling completely goes nuts, at 4GHz 1.3v could possibly be enough for example.

yes, of course ... ive tested 4 mobos ... for launch Core i5 week ... post results later, but are very similar for each mobo ... there is limit of unCore freq, whis you cannot to change ...

OK nice, yea I know you can't probably post the results now, was just wondering if you had planned on doing such comparision or not. But can you least say if the results P55 vs X58 as far as BCLK are good or bad?

What other boards do you have? What had been nice to see is a comparision with one board from Gigabyte, UD5 perhaps, then the MSI GD80, then perhaps ASUS P55D Deluxe and EVGA. ^^

Did memory bandwidth suck so bad you had to black it out?

    j/k, nice results so far.

In first wave will be completely tested:

    Gigabyte P55 UD6
    MSI P55 GD80
    Asus P7P55D Deluxe

In Second wave of review will be

    Gigabyte P55 UD5 + UD4P
    Asus P7P55 EVO
    MSI P55 GD65

i have almost all of them, tested now ...

In this time is max BCLK 200-210 on each mobo ... this platform is pretty limited by unchangeable uncore multi ...

PS. Results was deleted from screen because NDA, Dips are for Overvoltage ... one for CPU, VTT etc ..

I've observed about the GD80 vs the P55-UD4P that it requires far more vCore in the BIOS for the same OC, but CPU temps are ~equal at the same overclock, and the onboard voltage readouts with the multimeter seem to indicate that it's undervolting the CPU versus what it says in the BIOS.

I've hit the same limit on my ES CPUs on both boards so far though, and I'm observing similar results to OBR in terms of BCLK limits, but I've heard rumors of MUCH higher BCLKs on the Gigabyte ones. We'll see if there's any truth to it once the retail hardware is available.

About BCLK, there is serious limit in CPU ... if you have great CPU, you can reach 230 MHz on every mobo, my friend has ES CPU and on all mobos is going to 230-240 MHz BCLK ... my Retail piece is worst, on every tested mobos only 210 MHz ...
