PcCI2iminal: You seem to have a pretty good "IN" with Biostar...

The 785G and sideport memory are really nice options for a mATX/HTPC but they seem to keep missing one really important aspect of these types of boards.. Where is the Optical Audio out?

I have a TA790GX-A2+, it's a nice board for the money and I would actually like to put it in my Home Theater box but I don't run my sound through the HDMI cable, I run it through my reciever (optical)...

The PWM section of the board looks pretty weak too... Not a problem for an HTPC, but the lack of optical audio kind of leaves this board in limbo as far as I'm concerned.

Not a serious overclocker, and doesn't have the feature most HTPC folks would want...

I'm not trying to be a man, but they should really add Optical out if they want to compete in the HTPC market...

Quite a fruty color scheme there. Seems like Biostar is trying to compete with Gigabyte for goofiest-colored MBs.

From experience, that 16x PCI-e lock is a PITA to release with double slot cooler video cards.

I do not see any digital audio output, let alone optical... for it to support it has 3 possibilities.

    1) The expect people will use HDMI output on the 4200 video card for audio.

    2) It uses mini TOSlink which plugs into that analog speaker port but is digitally supported. (bizzare and uncommon, but I have an ITX board like that)

    3) It could have a adapter with a jumper onboard for digital audio output. That either outputs through an expansion slot or the IO shield. (like the WLAN does also on my ITX board)

    Just suppositions though.

    That RAM is awesome!

Who needs today's DDR3 if you can clock DDR2 that high!

Wow!! You definetly proved the OC potential of that board...

Biostar makes some really nice gear! Like I said before I have a TA790GX A2+. It's a good clocker too, but even after adding some ramsinks on the FETS and a fan blowing on them it still had a tendancy to just shut down when I pushed over 1.45 on the Vcore...

All in All, thats not a bad thing, at least the board seems to protect itself from damage, and it does have holes for aftermarket PWM cooling. If I could only find a decent aftermarket option....

I really wish Biostar would offer a high end AM3 board.. They seem to just focus on the budget side, but they have a good crew who makes some really nice stuff!

If they would offer up a board ~$175 with a strong power section, good cooling (including the PWM), and a decent sound chip with digital out, they could probably give GBT/Asus and MSI a run for their money!!

There are alot of talented folks there, I would certainly consider it!

Only a 60 Mhz overclock on the RAM? I want MOAR! Lets see some OCZ Blade in action on that, with super high gpu clocks? :p

hehhe ,im not a high level clocker on AMD systems ,but i think 1200MHz is not that bad ,of course that G.SKILL will work better on P45 and i will give a try on Intel very soon
and that board will be very cheap
