The great thing going on price-wise these days is that while 775 is done "evolving," prices will continue to drop as PHII releases new parts and drops old prices.

It seems that no matter what platform you have right now things are looking good in one way or another.

    920/940 = Same
955 = 100-150Mhz more on average with less volts.

Preparing for X4 965 launch tomorrow?

    Latest prices

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition @$200
    AMD Phenom II X4 945 @$170
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...se&Order=PRICE

    AMD cuts CPU prices

While AMD's official processor pricing page hasn't been updated, it appears the company has indeed cut prices on a wide range of Phenom II processors and one Athlon II CPU.

For instance, the Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition is now selling for $199.99 on Newegg as of today. That's $45 less than the official $245 price tag found on the official AMD CPU price list. And even though AMD still lists the Phenom II X4 945 at $225, on Newegg it now sells for $169.99.

Looking for a triple-core Phenom II CPU? Newegg currently sells the Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition for $119 (list price is $145) The slimmest Phenom II cut goes to the Phenom II X2 550, which is now priced at $102.99. That's actually a little higher than the $99.99 this CPU was selling for a few weeks ago.

Finally, AMD trimmed prices on their Athlon II 250. While it's officially listed at $87, Newegg is selling it for $76. Pricing on the remaining Athlon II CPUs has remained unchanged from mid-July.

Rumor has it that AMD will be introducing a new Phenom II X4 965 later this week. In fact, it's already gone on sale at a few European retailers. Besides the arrival of the Phenom II 965, the price cuts could also be in anticipation of Intel's Lynnfield CPUs, which are expected to make their debut next month.

Things just got a little hotter between Intel and AMD.
