    Northern California LN2 Gathering!

SAV and myself are interested in meeting up with some other extreme overclockers for some LN2 fun. I know that most people here aren't anywhere nearby, which is too bad. I have a Dewar, and can bring it to the event for people to use as long as the person pays for the LN2 itself . We're both located in the Bay Area. I also have a solid copper CPU pot, and a vacuum thermos that I could bring to help.

Please keep the thread on topic, and if you might be interested/able to meet up for some LN2 benching, please post!

Does anybody have a garage or something that would be even an okay place to set up?

Can we do it after September sometime? I will be real busy until then?

It'll take a while to get a lot of people organized and such. October might be a little far away though, but we'll see what works for the other guys.

Anyone wanting to try out LN2: It costs about $2.20 per liter and my Wolfdale e8500 uses about 2 to 2.5 liters an hour, so it costs around $5-$6 an hour to bench LN2 which isn't really all THAT bad. Once we get plans more finalized, people wanting to try LN2 on their CPUs just need to get their mobos insulated. Expect to max out the voltage setting on your BIOS, as 1.9-2.0 volts is typical

Thats awesome. I dont have much LN2 experience so that will be awesome.

I also have 3 CPUs that I can bench.

yeah im in Oakley, Ca far far far east bay.. but only about 45 minutes from SF and oakland.. id offer my garage but then im sure the HOA here would try to find another reason to fine me... god i hate HOA's..

if by the time the event happens and i get a new motherboard for my phenom II 940 then id sure as heck bench it.. but ive already got my biostar T-Force TA780G M2+ maxed out with it at 3.5ghz 1.47v..

but either way.. im really good at taking pictures.. :p lol

benching the Phenom II would be easy as cake, you can just fill the pot with LN2 instead of small pours every 20 seconds liek coldbugged chips require

I guess once we find someone who can host, we can start talking dates

    Cool.

So are all Intel chips coldbugged? I have a PD 820, E6300, and Q6600 I can bring.

I've got a DFI p45 and an e8500 E0 that I've benched before. I'll bring them (they are totally ready to bench with), but I'm think that LN2 on other people's rigs would be more fun to try since they normally can't. I have hit 5.83 Ghz before, but this was my first time with LN2 and I was actually limited by my RAM, so 6Ghz is possible!

Let's keep the thread on topic, hopefully this thing will actually happen

I hope you guys can get this together. If you can get 2 to 3 "serious" ln2 benchers together you could go in on a 180L dewar for the weekend. Amass a pile of hardware and let the fingers fly on the keyboards Good luck guys!

I just want to play with it. Maybe hammer in some nails with a banana. How many more frames could you get in BF2?

and the biggest issue is that we still need a place. So far Raptor is our best bet, but he's kinda far away. It's ing scary having the lid lifting off the thing behind me as I go 5 mph on a side road for a .7 mile drive. 90 miles would SUCK lol

Anybody closer to the bay able willing to let us set up at your place? It'd be greatly appreciated

Probably beer. No contributing to minors, especially with minor child's parents home.
