Lian Li v350 Water cooled case mod

    Hi everyone

like the title says im currently doing a small project where im installing a full water cooling system (cpu, nb & gpu) inside a tiny lian li pc-v350 with a dual rad mounted on the indside.

There's not really much modding going on just a few extra holes on the inside for easier routing of the tubes.

But i have can to a point where i'm a little stuck so hoping someone here can help.

I'm planning to make a fillport hole in the roof of the case that will go directly into a single bay reservoir (there simpley isnt the space to do an effective T line)

I want to reduce the size of a double male threaded g 1/4" bolt which i will use to connect the fillport cap to the bay res but i am unsure what would be the best tool(s) to do the job neatly without destroying the thread or one end of the bolt. I want to remove 1/8" from the length of the bolt

Any help on how best to do this be much appreciated

put it in a vice and hacksaw of the desired amount, then file edges to even thread, pop bolt on and force some new thread for the 1-2 mm, to end up on the original thread.

ah i had wondered if using a hacksaw would ruin the thread too much but found a vid on youtube showing this method using a little oil to help the sawing so will give it a try.

    thx for the advice soundood

Yeh sure, i presume you mean of the case and not this annoying bolt i was trying to cut

Not long home from work now so will try and put few up in the morning.

Wasn't planning any major reshaping of the case or anything, just been working on routing the water cooling tubes and trying to keep motherboard as cable free as possible.

Its my first ever attempt at cutting a pc case and doing any sort of cable management so you'll have to bare with me on this one. But i'm quite happy with hows its going so far

this what i've done to the hdd cage floor to allow the EK 4850 water block fit

heres a test fitting to check spacing

I expanded the original oval cable hole in the 5 1/4" bay to allow the pumps outlet tube to drop down into the case

This is the fillport I was previously askign about

    and finally the fillport itself

Be a little more carefull with details, like the rubber around the hole in the 5 1/4, see if you can get a rubber which fits at least without showing the edges, like the first picture.
    Amazing job with the fillport.

    cheers man,

Yeh wanna redo the rubber trim in that bay. It was the first hole i cut so didnt want too try fix it straight away just in case i wasted all that i had of the stuff trying fix one piece

definitely going to have another go, realised doing the hdd cage its alot easier to cut it with 95% of the trim already fitted than trying to measure what u need and then cut a piece
