    New SSD FileMate??

I saw there is this new SSD at newegg. Called the FileMate.
It's very cheap, but it's specs are 220 read/160 write.

    What does everyone think?

i'm gonna assume it uses the dual jmicron controllers we see in the ocz apex and gskill's titan. (no onboard cache yet)

Hmm, the price seems too low to share the same class as Apex / Titan.

It's very tempting, but I'm not about to spend $200 + dollars to find that I got crap.

filewate is a wintec brand, so i wouldent get it and its most likly cheaper since people dont trust wintec with their own name and they want to make the drive look more attractive since the name dosnt do it

and it looks like a samsung of some kind
    5930k, R5E, samsung 8GBx4 d-die, vega 56, wd gold 8TB, wd 4TB red, 2TB raid1 wd blue 5400
    samsung 840 evo 500GB, HP EX 1TB NVME , CM690II, swiftech h220, corsair 750hxi

I am wondering the same thing... the prices are extremely attractive.

    # Sequential Access - Read: 220MB/s
    # Sequential Access - Write: 220MB/s
    for the 256GB version

    # Sequential Access - Read: 220MB/s
    # Sequential Access - Write: 150MB/s
    for the 64GB and 128GB

The price is extremely attractive. For ~400 bux you can put 4x64GB in a raid zero and just have mind blowing performance.

By 2010 the HDD will be dead except for mass storage. Everyone will have a primary SSD + 1TB storage drive

just saw this on new egg. Should give the OCZ apex and the X25-M a run for their money.

doesnt look like it one has a 220mb/s write where as the APEX has only a 160mb/s write speed. Im especially interested in the 64gb model for $120

It has 150 MB/s write speed. Don't believe in miracles.

The one that says 220/220 is much larger and costs like $600. Someone want to try out Newegg's return policy?

Ok I sent FileMate a email yesterday about these SSD's and this is what I got back today.
Thank you for inquire about Filemate SSD product.

    For the 128GB SSD under P/N# 3FMS2B128-WR

Newegg made a mistake posting our spec. on their web site.

Only our 256GB SSD has Sequential access- read 220MB/s and Sequential Access -Write 150MB/s.

Only our 256GB SSD is build with the dual JMicron controllers

    For the 128GB SSD under P/N# 3FMS2B128-WR

Is build with only single JMicron controller

Has only Sequential access- read 130MB/s and Sequential Access -Write 75MB/s.

I am contacting Newegg have them fix this error right the way.

    Zanzabar,
Wintec products are manufactured for many different brand/product names.
Filemate is the name we use for our consumer-based storage products (SD cards, CF cards, SSD's, etc,.).
We even make memory products for other companies that are sold with well-known brand names..

Wintec is the brand name we use for our OEM products.
For example, Wintec is the sole supplier for the solid state memory that goes into Bally's slot machines, due to our reliability and robust design..
    What people "don't trust" Wintec?

You guys just keep up the good work with those SSDs, and make a cheaper Filemate based on the same tech as OCZ Vertex drives, and you will get the deserved attention!
Then you can send me (or sell very cheap) one of those drives for giving you the needed support early on!

Thanks, here's a little price comparison for you:

    ..............Wintec/Filemate.....OCZ Vertex....OCZ Apex
    64GB........$120....................$250.......... ..$200
    128GB......$230....................$500........... .$360
    256GB......$540....................$900........... .$810
    (prices from newegg)
How much cheaper do you want??

haha Thanks for poting your comparison.

But yes, what I meant was: I hope you guys release will release a drive based on the same tech as OCZ Vertex (with additional cache as well as dual jmicron controller) and price it this good in comparison.

Also Filemate drives below 256GB are based on single jmicron controller so they can't be compared directly to OCZ apex. Their prices are great indication of how things will progress.

AFAIK Vertex doesn't have JMicron at all. Am I wrong?
