    Auto Focus help!?

I have a FujiFilm FinPix S1000fd and for some reason it has the hardest time focusing on any thing. If I want a photo to be in focus I have to take it 4-5 times before I can get one shot thats in focus at all. It happens on the Auto and Manual settings as well as all the others I have. Any ideas or should i be calling Fuji up?

I think you should return it for RMA, the focus motor might have malfunctioned.

What are you trying to shoot? If it has low contrast between colors and dark and light, it will not focus as well. Same with low light. Setup a controlled test with the camera on a tripod in good lighting conditions, shooting a contrasty subject. See if you have the same problem.

I will try that any suggestions on how to do this right? I'm an amateur photographer at best so I'm not sure. I have a tri-pod and some lights how should I go about this?

Just set the camera on a tripod and try to focus on, say, a water bottle label, or some batteries lined up. Do this on a sunny day near a window. Try to have the most optimal lighting conditions possible.

If its still blurry, I think you can safely say the camera is defective.

Not enough light. Maybe some bright halogen lights pointing directly at the subject? About what the light would be like on a bright sunny day.

I have a feeling moisture is causing the problem here, your pics might be well focused but moisture on your sensor makes them look blurred, and now it doesn't turn on, might be due to moisture as well, keep it to dry for a day or two then try again.

Its in the driest room in the house but washington is really humid so I'm not sure how to get it to dry out effectively.
