Undisclosed AMD Processor - Some results that AREN'T with extreme cooling...

While not the be all and end all, this undisclosed processor has shown some impressive overclocking potential for a simple TRUE + fan setup.

EDIT: As requested, I have provided video evidence!

3.6Ghz doesn't mean crap without benchmarks. Some 9950s can hit 3.6 lets see how it performs.
Could be engineering sample or somethign newer since that board "Asus M3A79-T Deluxe" has AM3 support listed on it for ASUS's website

Hopefully these can push closer to 4 GHz to make it truly competitive with Yorkies and Core i7.

Yeah, some more information would have been usefull. It's a nice OC nonetheless, but the 'easy' part makes me think, could it been higher with a bit more time? What Vcore? NB OC? etc

With 7% IPC increase that would be like an 9950BE at 3.85GHz. Best I could reach on air was ~3.2GHz/1.45V. On their press meeting they showed 4GHz at 1.55V on air. I'd be interested in NB oc limits also.

Yeah, there are limits to what can be said right now as all of you are well-enough aware.

All I'll say is that the evidence for what I'm saying will be clear enough in due time.

I will qualify my "easy" statement though - It took me about 1/2 an hour to find a quad prime stable (8 hrs) setting of over 3.6GHz on air. Also there was no mussing about with HTT settings, so that should give you a clear idea of what chip this is

Linus@ncix.......I know you can't say much, but a little advice would help.........Should I wait for the AM2+ Denebs or look elsewhere. A simple PM of Yay or Nay would suffice.

Its not that hard to post a cpu-z screenshot with particular details blacked out. Without validation there is no way anyone will know what it is. Of course you posted in the amd section so its obvious thats its an amd part.

So am I, and having been under NDA there are ways to do things. As long as the Cpu is not identifiable showing a cpu z of clockspeed will not violate NDA, hell it could be a C2Q.

Throwed, remember that if your board is AM2+ you can(should) be able to put any AM3 CPU in.
The AM2+ denebs I think are a nicer upgrade for the AM2 systems.
Im curious if the AM3 will be a better stepping than the AM2+ denebs because of the lower ACP they have for the AM3 chips.
Anyone have any ideas on that?

Can you tell us temps with this OC, if it's with vcore default... if not, vcore % increased... thanks for the info!

Yeah, but the AM2+ versions will be out first so I will just get one of those. Waiting for January is hard enough.....and much harder to wait for the AM3 versions. When I take the AM3 leap(which I know I will), I plan to buy all new stuff(mobo, DDR3 RAM, and AM3+). Should have all 4 of my desktop systems with Denebs by Fall of 09.

BTW, my current board is a ASUS M3A78http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131340....A Phenom II 940 Black Edition will do nicely in it.

So the Jan release is AM2+ only? When will the 1st AM3 ones be out? I thought they would have released at the same time since they don't specifically need a AM3 mobo.

AM3s are planned for Feb or March as I recall.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

Wonder if SB600 still makes them worthless for overclocking. Might get some use out of this M3A yet.
