custom Xigmatek S1283 AMD mounting bracket

in the process of making a custom mounting bracket for my S1283 so i can mount it vertically on my AMD mobo.

did it on a very old bridgeport milling machine with probably the wrong endmill. plus it didnt have a digital read out. finished up with a hand file.

then i had to file down the screw heads because the out diameter of the head was to big and hit the sidewall of the heatsink. im sure other people have run into this problem using the intel mounting brackets.

gotta drill 4 holes next

That looks good, I wish I had access to a milling machine so I could do it.

backplate issue

fixed!

mounted: it doesnt cover the first DIMM slot! horrah!

whoa close call!

looks pretty sexy

i used thermalright paste. i wanted to try it out compared to the antec formula 5 paste i was using.

I haven't done any testing yet but its idling at 32C right now, which is alot better than the zalman 8700 which idled at like 40C

over all im very please with this bracket, i feel more comfortable being able to tighten down the heatsink with screws than using the stock AMD clip.

plus now that it doesn't cover my DIMM slots i can upgrade my ram by buying another 2 x 1gb kit instead of having to buy a 2 x 2gb kit

Woot!
