I mostly use Western Digitial and have not come across this before. The few Seagate SATA drives that I have seen in other pre-built systems as well as one drive ordered from Newegg all have this jumper in place. Is there any reason NOT to uncap the drives?





Somewhat surprised to see an Alienware, using a board capable of 3Gb/s, leaving the jumpers in place.
