    Rampage Formula + E8600 LN2 Results 6G+, Fast Pi + Great 3D

Hi, our South African team had an overclocking Event at a big Lan. 40L LN2 and 15kg dice. Had some Awesome sponsors and had lots of fun.

    System used:
    X48 Rampage Formula.
    E8600 Q823A (coldbug around -120)
    2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers 1066
    Sapphire 4870x2 and a 9800GX2
    Corsair 750W psu
NB pot Home made (NB at -25)
CPU pot Home made (cpu at -105)

I had a horrible time with the rampage formula, Coldboot was -65!! so when i get in windows and down it to -105 and then BSOD i have to wait for it to heat up to -65 again ! no hairdryer was available!

    3D was ran at 5920-6005 mhz, 2d around 6105mhz at 1.87v

    Results.

makaka, Thanks i love insulating. 1st layer insulation tape, then sticky thin neoprene, then paper towels, then thick neoprene with the pots on and with their gaskets on making sure no air comes through

1st layer of insulation tape- then sticky neoprene like in photo

    then tissue towel paper

then the big stuff, but this was 5 min after the run, so it got wettish

for 24/7 bro i would say 1.32 and under, i just dont like high volts 24/7 .
i LN2 and extreme OC, but i run all my things stock speeds 24/7. i only play dota so ya!

This board was fine on Dice, it had no problems, but Dang on ln2 it has nasty coldbootbug issues..

but how does it work ???

on your cpu-z screens (aquamark, superpi, pifast) there is always
bios 0219 for your rampage formula and your cpu is E0 stepping

arent all E0´s supposed to work with bios 0407 and above ?

i´m asking because i really like the board and just purchase a e8600
but all bios after 0308 seem to be "downgrade" for performance and
stability (additionally pci-e controller do not work and so on)

Yep. 0219 is the stock Bios !

When i start the rig up it says, "Unknown CPU, Upgrade bios to unleash its full power"
But it works anyway, so im not updating . One problem though is that because the cpu is Unknown i cant change the Multiplier, it stays at 10.

This is called a Pre-45nm bios, superpi runs very quickly like this, thats why i didnt update.

I had a lot of issues with my DFI X38 and the Q9400. Bottom line is that I could not get it to oc past 3.2GHz. After dropping it in a friends rampage and seeing it go prime stable at 3.7GHz, I have decided to pull the trigger on a Rampage Formula ROG mobo since I want to go crossfireX later this year. I have a couple of questions about this mobo. Is the stock nb/sb cooler good enough after removing the stock paste and replacing with AS5 or do I need 3rd party coolers? How is the supremesound module that comes with it? I am ready to dump my x-fi xtrememusic because of endless issues. Also are there any issues using the RAM that is listed in my sig?
