    G-Skill F3-12800CL7D-2GBHZ HZ overclocking report

alright guys few days ago i got a parcel from the post office full of goodies. since im totally addicted to overclocking i thought i'd do small ocing report from these wonderful G-skill sticks for you guys, i have to say that i was really blown away by the clock speeds that i was able to pull off from these sticks when considering that these are rated at 1600mhz stock speeds

    Specifications:

    Capacity: 2GB (1GB x 2)
    Speed: 1600MHz DDR2
    Latency: CL 7-7-7-18 (EPP Ready)
    Voltage: 1.9 Volts
    PCB: 6-layer PCB

    Lifetime warranty

    Test Setup:

intel core2duo E8500 (clocked at 4.0ghz during the test)
    EVGA 790i ultra
    asus 9600 GT
Tagan BZ series 1100w modular psu
120mm fan was used to insure that ram stays nice and cool

and on with the results that i was able to pull off from the G-Skill F3-12800CL7D-2GBHZ HZ sticks...all the results were done with unlinked mode. also take note that as this is an overclocking report, i used my motherboards highest possible voltage for the ddr3 ram witch is 2.275v... i would not recommend to use that as 24/7 voltage but for short benching sessions that should be safe
for testing the my overclocks stability i used superPi 32m

the max CL8 speed was 1029mhz (or 2058 mhz)

    max cl7 was 995mhz (or 1990 mhz)

max CL6 was 842 mhz (or 1684 mhz)

and finally Cl5 witch max speed was 721 mhz (or 1482mhz)

got to say im really happy of my purchase these stick clock pretty damn well considering that they are relatively cheap!!!!
these sticks should love the intel boards that have ddr3 support!!!

yeah you need to get off from your lazy ass and crunch some numbers my friend...hehehe

BTW just to make some comparison on how well those G-skills overclock i ran some stability testing with my CellShock DDR3 PC3-14400 1800MHz (8-7-6-21) kit... these sticks cost almost 2 times more than the G-skills that i tested

take a look same volts with cl7

What do you think about voltage? 2.275v is too much ?

God Crist, now the DDR3 really blows the head of DDR2. Down to 721MHz CL5! ^_^

Still looks like CL6/7 get best performance.

In case of CellShock DDR3 they have just so wounderful performance.
    This is not enought.

    Current hz's are Samsung HCF0. Obviously by the 5-5-5, 6-6-6, 7-7-7, 8-8-8, these are HCF0 as well.

well some people have said that over 2.3v is leathal...some run there sticks at 2.3v so im guessing that it depends on the sticks and how brave you are

If you don't mind, could you please upload a pic of CPU-Z SPD tab with that memory?

    Thx!

I am quite sure that my sticks are HCF0, becuase I was quite pissed when I bought some new sets and didn't get Micron to match my older sets. GSTech also posted in thread after I mentioned them being Sammies, and did not refute the info...

My sticks were bought...a month ago, not even...3 weeks ago, from NCIX. So either NCIX pulled a fast one(doubt it by the SPD), or they've switched Micron sticks to the PI line...

    Not a big deal, really, as Corsair's 2133 sticks are HCF0 as well...I can run 7-7-7-18 @ 1600 with just 1.7v(sticks rated for 1.9v)/1800 mhz @ 1.85v

EDIT: how do you tell week code? maybe this will end confusion here...

    (end numbers 6577/6578)

EDIT#2, mine are 830, so just one week after yours..you got some of the last..and yeah, chances are his are micron, and I was wrong.

I take it the ones with Samsung chips suck?

Actually the sammies are OK, but cannot do other than 6-6-6, 7-7-7, 8-8-8, 9-9-9. Some 7-6-6 is ok, but not great. SHould do 2000 no problem @ 2.1v.

From this thread alone it looks like sticks produced after 830 are sammies.

Is it possible to check chip brand without opening the box? A serial number or something?

from what eva said, first three #'s of the serial number would be production week. I cannot remember if it was visible through the window of the box when I got mine though.

nah really only way is looking under heatspreaders which for the HZ series comes off very easily - a bit too loose for my liking heh
