    A few words on E8600 Q820A599

Well....after a long, long wait I got my CPU from lolhalol (which I would personally like to thank once again for helping me out). After I received my little treasure I decided to take a few test with it before putting it under LN2 (anyway I've got no LN2 now and I have to go to Amsterdam, so that will have to wait for a few weeks) so I played a little bit with air, chilled water and a single stage....

    Air

    29 oC Room Temp

    Cooler Master Gemini II
    MSI P45 Platinum
    Crucial Ballistix PC8000

    SuperPI - 4000MHz - 1.14v
    Orthos - 4000MHz - 1.16v
    SuperPI - 4500MHz - 1.33v
    SuperPI - 5000MHz - 1.56v

    Chilled water

Cooler Master Aquagate MAX + water + antifreeze + ice
    MSI P45 Platinum
    Crucial Ballistix PC8000

    SuperPI 1M - 5200MHz - 1.7v / ~ -5oC

Too much vcore here, but I just wanted to see how the CPU does with higher VCore...

    Single Stage

    Dimastech SS
    Asus Commando
    Crucial Ballistix PC8000

    SuperPI 32M - 5200MHz - 1.6v / -40oC
    SuperPI 1M - 5500MHz - 1.6v
    Max Screen - 5760MHz - 1.78v / -35oC

Unfortunately all my valid files >5500MHz are corrupt

I am pretty pleased with the way this baby goes, and I can hardly wait to put it under the real cold....-100 should be a blast

^ Indeed. Looking forward to more too...

On a side note, I wish I "had" to go to Amsterdam.

    thanks

1st of 5x E8600 Q820A599 installed on Gigabyte EP45 Extreme with new F6H bios. VID = 1.25v and seems to be around 0.032v vdroop on Vcore under load.

who said E8600 were hot buggers ?

    System:
    • E8600 Q820A599 2V8 / **5146
    • CPU Cooling: Dtek Fuzion Rad Tower Box
    • Gigabyte GA-EP45 Extreme rev 1.0 F6h bios
    • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
    • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 dual channel kit
    • Memory cooling: 120x25mm Thermaltake 81cfm fan
    • 74GB Western Digital Raptor OS drive
    • Pioneer 215 DVD-RW
    • 1200W Silverstone OP1200
    • WinXP Pro SP2 Nlite Fully Updated.

Idle vs Load temps @4000Mhz 1.225v bios set vcore

Is the first vcore I loaded windows in to test, so haven't tried any other vcore settings yet.

    Room ambient = ~20C
Powermate Wattage Meter = 142-151 Watts under Prime95 load

Some more playing with SS, can't wait to get back from Amsterdam and hit this baby with LN2

    SuperPI 32M - 5400MHz - 1.62v

Don't look at the score, no tweaks there, just testing the CPU

Mine is Q820A670 -- very close # to Monstru's chip. VID is 1.2500V.

I had it up to 4GHz so far. No big deal, but I am still using the crappy stock cooler until I can afford something better. It took 1.325V (in BIOS) to do this, although CPU-Z reported 1.288V, so somethig somewhere is slightly off.

My Pi times @ 400x10 so far:

Different board test, I flashed to 8/29 bios before installing my E8600 Q820A599 so lucky not to have any issues with setting vcore - so much so managed 4980Mhz at 1.55v bios set with Corsair Nautilus 500 H20 cooling for 3dmark05 http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=9904 !

    Finally some LN2 preliminary preparations

    6350MHz - SuperPI 1M - 1.84v / ~-120 oC

Please do not look at the performance, I was just testing the CPU.

    I think it;s a promising one
