Case? Who needs one of those...

Instead of a case, for my latest build I just used the backplane and layed it all out on my desk for easy access:

Tight fit with some of the coolers, but it works well:

I made myself a little fan controller. It's not finished yet. I still have to add a second channel and fit it in a box:

I don't know what wire management is either :

    Specs are as follows:
Mobo: P5K-Dlx with TR coolers for the chipsets and mosfets
    CPU: QX6700 B3 @ 3.6 (hits a wall) with EK Supreme
    RAM: 4gig Gskill
GPU: G92 GTS @ 800/2000/1000 with EK full cover
    PSU: Cooler Master 1250W
    Pumps: 2xD5 varios

    Coming next:
I have an Areca 1230 waiting for drives.
    Monday I will be getting a HD4870.

I realize that not everyone would agree with my design choices. Feel free to critique my system - It won't hurt my feelings, honest.

    Thanks.

    I forgot:
The rads are Thermochill PA120.3s (of course), with shrouds.
The fans are 6x San Ace 1011s (I have 6 more sitting around for a push/pull trial if I get bored)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who didn't bother with a case

Lol, yes - definitely overkill. I wasn't sure how many blocks I would be adding to each loop when I picked up the rads. But I kinda like it the way it is now, though I have some EK mosfet blocks I might add to one of the loops.

overkill? nah.. there is no such thing as overkill in cooling.

looks good, I like it. however, if you want to keep it permanently out of the case and money isnt too much of a concern (which it isnt judging by the setup you got there) you might as well consider a dd torture rack.

Check out what I did for Hellmouth before I had the case and phase change unit back from Smooth Creations. Glad I figured out the coolant was more suitable for a ghey pride parade than a gothic build . . .

This is what I use for testing now (I plan to ask Danger Den to make me a custom Torture Rack one of these days . . .just need to save up so I can feed em lobster to butter them up first):

Please disregard the e-peenishness of the pic . . .the TV IS NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL . . .oh, in the above pix . . .I do have a martial arts weapon and bag rack in the back . . .phear teh DarthBeavis . . .they modeled the Kung Foo Panda after me

I appreciate the bench rack ideas and I have thought about them a bit. But I'm a bit of a DIYer (the 2 channel, 100+ watt fan controller should be a dead giveaway ). I would probably make the rack myself out of wood or metal because that is the easiest way to get the details exactly the way I want.

Dust is always a problem here ( I live in a desert ), even with a case on. I just periodically wipe down all the surfaces that can take being moist, and the rest I blow off with air.
