    9600GSO to 8800GTS (certain 8chip 9600gso's)

    http://lly316.blogspot.com/2008/05/h...o-8800gts.html

Very interesting indeed. At least some 9600gso's with all 8 chips instead of 6 can very well be unlocked. Not only will all 512mb become available (and interface goes to 256bit), but all 128 stream processors will be usable. And indeed, these are still using g92-150 chips and not g92-400's. Currently, we've seen at least galaxy (kfa2) 9600gso's with all 8 chips.

Perhaps this means soon we'll have 8800gt to 8800gts possible?

Also checked, this is one of the few Galaxy products that are not
available here. (Hopefully it will be?...Is this a new card?)

Edit: ooh, it seems I've found a shop that has it after all - if this
one is that: Galaxy - 9600GSO 384MB XTREME TUNER
Makes me wonder if it's real, I mean, what's in it for Galaxy? Sell
more expensive chips (ones with all 128 SPs working) and more
memory chips (8 instead of 6) for half the price of an 8800GTS?
    This is not quite economical.

However, it's at a good price, has 0.8ns RAM to make up for the
thinner bus and I should upgrade my card, so I think I'll get it next
    week and report back.

    very cool,
but most of the 8800GS/9600GSO only have the 6 chips, but the GPU is a g92 to, so it is possible to unlock the shader units/rops/tmus on any 8800GS/9600GSO?! or the other have the g92 with the locked shader units/rops/tmus physically "destroyed"!?

AFAIK that 2-slot version has memory 8 chips. If not, I have seen the 8 chip card in Terra.com (Warszawa-Ochota).

The original article links to this:
    http://www.szgalaxy.com/show/PCIEser...5-21/2376.html

Galaxy's english site and what local retailers probably have is this:
    http://www.galaxytech.com/product_details.asp?id=184

This also has the 0.8ns ram, and it looks like only the cooler and the
connectors are different (although not much else is visible..)

Your verdict? IMO it's as close as it gets.

They have a single slot cooler.... If you get all shaders working I foresee melting HSFs!

Look at the pics again - they are double-slot. It has the same cooler as the
    Galaxy 8800GTs, just in blue.
