    Arrow Samsung T220 vs 2253BW

    Now recently Samsung released the 2253BW to replace the 226BW.

    And also they released the T220.

    I really want to get a high speed TFT 22" monitor for gaming, insert cod4, bf etc.

    It would seem that samsung are the best choice atm, unfortunately there is no professional reviews for these monitors but going on spec's, it would seem that both monitors have the same panel.

    The only thing I could find was a short review of the T220 model here:

    http://www.crn.com/hardware/206904754

    2253BW costs €295

    T220 costs €326

    What you guys think, anyone got any information on these monitors or actually own one?

    There are no reviews because it is not available yet. However, the brief comments ive heard about it have all been really positive so it is probably worth the wait (and the extra money).

    Ok I figure that the 2253BW and the T220 have basically the same panel but the T220 is either tweaked more to get higher contrast and I imagine it definitely comes with a Samsung panel.

    Anyway yesterday I ordered a T220 so looking forward to the delivery

    Will update the thread when I got it.

    have a look at the LG L227WT. maybe it's also worth to consider.

    bought it few weeks ago. even dark games like doom3 and quake4 look impressive.

    Well I ordered it here in Germany, here is a list of suppliers:

    http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a316452.html

    I got mine for €326 and I got it earlier today, compared to my Viewsonic VX2235wm it is outstanding, the difference between colours and brightness is like the difference between night and day.

    Obviously they have different settings and they are from completely different generations but from the little I have seen, the T220 seems like a big step up in terms of colours, brightness and contrast.

    I played some cod4 and found that it was much sharper and easier to clearly see people, wheither that's because it has much higher brightness or contrast, I don't know but it also felt faster to me.

    The viewsonic has a quoted 5ms and the T220 has a 2ms responce time and it just felt sharper and faster.

    Oh and the bezel looks fantastic imo, there is a clear glass incasing on top of the burgundy base, which stretches out a couple of mm's at the sides and about half a centimeter at the base and top which looks cool

    Well mine arrived yesterday. Havn't got time to do a full review yet but initial observations are:

    PROS
    • Very little calibration needed. Black and white levels are excellent as is colour reproduction.
    • Picture very sharp and crisp.
    • Made in Romania with Q4 build date, so built last month.
    • No panel version on the back or in the secret menu, but version is M-TW22H0CAA-1000.6, which should be a Samsung panel:

      * X-xxxxxxxAx-xxxx: Samsung panel.
      * X-xxxxxxxLx-xxxx: AU Optronics panel.
      * X-xxxxxxxDx-xxxx: CMO panel.
      * X-xxxxxxxIx-xxxx: CPT panel.

    • No noise from the monitor whatsoever.
    • No artifacts from using RTA (overdrive for better response times)
    • Good smoothness during movement
    • Bezel design looks good but very red in daylight! Fits with my setup though.

    CONS
    • Some backlight bleed evident, but seems to be fading.
    • Only came with a generic manual. Proper manual available online though.
    • Software provided didn't work. Needed to download updated version.

    I have a couple of weeks to see if the bleed fades enough before deciding whether to keep it or not.
