What are the chances of using 8GB of this stuff @ DDR1138?

I will buy 2 4GB sets of this stuff (8GB) if I have a good chance of obtaining my goal of DDR1138 speeds using 8GB's of this G.Skill mem in my Maximus Formula X38 motherboard..... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166. Thanks

I'd say basically zero, but it depends on what you consider stable.

With current chipsets, running 8 GB truely stable over DDR2-1000 speeds is not easy.

    Non-sense...

All the following motherboards are capable of running 8gigs at 1066speeds stable.
    Abit IX38
    Abit IP35-E
    Abit IP35
    Abit IP35 Pro
    Asus X38 Maximus Formula
    Asus P5K Deluxe
    Evga 780i
    Gigabyte P35 / EP35 DS3 series.
    Gigabyte X38 DS4
    Gigabyte X38 / EX38 DQ6

The x48 and 790i variants will too.

As far as hitting DDR1138 speeds... I'm not sure.

Wow, strange. Even the Foxconn Mars and my DFI rd600 ICFX3200 t2r/g can run 8gigs at 800mhz.

8 gigs is no small task at 1000.

    1138, is near impossible.
I wouldnt count on anywhere near that.

How about DDR2-1066 8 GB like you're claiming?

I can post screenshots of my 8 GB @ DDR2-1080, but it's not stable.

You feel it's easy to hit DDR2-1066 with 8 GB, but it's not.

Anyone who thinks it's easy can show me their HCI Memtest (as many instances as it takes to utilize all 8 GB) or Memtest86+ screenies with 8 GB @ DDR2-1066 stable for hours.

No, Prime95 doesn't count, neither does Super Pi, or Everest bandwidth, as those do not really test stability for 8 GB at all.

I'll show you once I get my Rampage Formula . The sticks will only run 8gigs at 1066 speeds on the motherboards that are listed... that list isn't from me, it's DIRECTLY from G.Skill.

Only those motherboards are capable of running 8gigs stable at 1066 speeds. They are still looking for more capable motherboards.

    Examples:

Maximus Formula running 8gigs at 1066

Maximus Formula running 8gigs at 1080

Has anyone had a chance to test 8gb of the new 2x2gb OCZ reaper 8500's

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227289

dropped to $115 post rebate. I wondered if there would be any real diffrence in overclocking between these and the dominator 8500's?

I am looking for 4x2gb sticks for my dfi ut p35 board so any input would be greatly appreciated

well I would never have thought, on a lark I purchased 8gb's of Mushkin EM -PC2 6400 $180+tax total cost, ok, so took out 4gb's Ballistix 4-4-4-9, put 8gb's EM in, only changed bios to read SPD, well I'll be a (*&^%%$$ uncle the ^&*(%$ frickin stuff booted played Counter Strike for a 1/2 hour no hiccups, albeit, at 5-5-5-18 2.2v

For the same reason that I wanted 2GB's back in 2003, cause at some point it will be nice to have, and also, why NOT? with the price of ram falling, grabbing 8GB's now for just over $200 is a nice score Also, Vista is a MEMORY HOG, so that is my exact reason for going 8GB's as opposed to 4GB's.

In response to whether or not you'll be able to run 8GB at those speeds, I quote Harry Callahan.

"...you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?"

    No harm intended.
    Less is more.

I run 8 gigs of G-Skill in my Maximus Formula at 1066 every day. It was OCCT stable and Memtest stable for 1000+% coverage on all 8 gigs. It is possible.

on a side note: with 8gb how much memory does Vista use for Superfetch? with 4gb it's 1-1.1gbs

XP Pro x64 8gb's disabled pagefile,
    prefetch disabled also,
    correct me if wrong,
it's probably a good idea to allocate 2mb(min and max fixed) to a pagefile on another disk in system in case of problem so you can read dump file, other than that what other purpose when using 8gb?
