    3870 x2 + 3870 crossfire overclocking

Added a 3870 to go with my 3870 x2 today, even went and got vista ultimate 64 to have the crossfore X support in cat 8.3.

CCC says crossfire is enabled, gpu-z says it's disabled.

Running everything at stock speeds 3D 06 score is the same as it was before I added the 2nd card, while 3D 03 is 11K higher than previos stock runs.

My bigest problem is before I was using atitool and amd gpu tool for overclocking and it worked pretty well. But this method wont work for x2 and single gpu card. At least I can't get it to work.

Rivatuner only allows me to adjust the fan speed on 1 card.

So basicly I ned to know how to get the clocks up and fan speed up on both cards.

Also will it matter which card is in which slot?

I just had a look on 32bit Vista and it seems to be enabled.

No you can, you can do 2 cards, 3 cards or 4 cards, and as long as the cards are within the same GPU family you can CFX them, like a 3850 with a 3870 if you so pleased. At least that was my understanding reading the release notes from ATI.
Couple of different rigs for many different purposes.

Yep, and with the early beta leak look. 3 GPUs scaled better than 4 of them did.

I hope you get everything worked out. I am really interested in seeing some benchmarks.

It works fine, that said I had to upgrade to vista also so I'm on a crash course learning vista also.

I managed to get some overclock using AMD GPU Tool last night, but as always the 8.3 driver crashed and did the recovery thing. I even tried to leave the 3870 on it's default clocks and run the x2 just under what I know it will clock to, and still the driver crashed.

I havent done a lot of benching yet, still trying to get the overvlovking sorted. Here is what I have so far.

3D 06 with cards at all stock I beat my PB by 1000 marks. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=5599724

3D 03 I beat my PB by over 13k http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=5760436 , again with stock cards.

    Those 3D runs was with a Q6600 @ 3825mhz, 2gb PC8500 @ 566mhz and both cards not overclocked.
