9800GTX will hit the market in March 25

Our source conformed that 9800GTX will hit the market in March 25. It is the second or third 9 series card by NVIDIA. While we can expect the 9800GX2 will be as high as 6XX USD, the price of 9800GTX still keeps unknown. We know a single 9800GTX only performs like its predecessor, but maybe it is born for 3-way SLI.

An OC-GTS with exlusive PCB(which seems to have some potential) and 0.83ns GDDR3.

But sure, it is a shame that NV call this card 9800 GTX.

Yes, of course GTX will be OC king ... but

    Oced 8800GTS-512 @ 675/1688/2200 = new 9800GTX @ stock ...

PS. I can OC my GTS on 750/1800/2200 without problem and have more powerfull card again ...

I dont want to buy any "new" GF9 card with stupid 256-bit Memory bus ... in my rig stays Two Ultras in SLI ... but on 790i Ultra ...

Not really exicted about this card. It's basically worse than the 8800GTX in alot of ways. It will be a killer card no doubt, but won't be as killer as the 9800GTX should be if all the reports are true.
The best thing is that 8800GTX will be cheaper still.

I'll wait to see how well these overclock. Disappointing overall however. This is what happens when there is no (or lackluster) competition.

Joe 6 pack won't know the real difference in this card, he will only notice the higher number. There are a lot more people like him, than people like us.

Maybe they used the same compression optimization than the 9600GT, so it performs better with the same amount of shaders and less memory bandwidth... but I'm just hoping here ^^

comparing cards clock to clock isn't the best way to gauge max performance.

At the same core/shader/mem speed a G80 GTX will beat a G92 GTS.

But once you push both of them to their limit, the G92 does much better, because it clocks much higher.

With the new mem (really .83ns?) the mem stock manufacturer clocks will be 2400mhz, and then new power section, this card should overclock nicely.

Does the 9800GTX have 1 or 2 6-pin power connectors?

My GAWD, I love my 8800GTX even more!!! It's still the best!

30-40% more memory bandwidth, 50% more memory buffer (capacity at 768MB), and 50% more ROP's! Even if that 9800GTX has 15-20% faster core depending on its overclockability, I'll gladly pass...

Already, I have 4 games that use more than 512MB memory at 1920x1200. Crysis uses over 700MB at only 1600x1200, without FSAA! From my experience, limited bandwidth or buffer cause more stutterting/hitching in games. It's the bottleneck that makes the core "sputter" no matter how fast it is.

    Me, happy man..

Well atleast people have stopped bwaking about the -super shader- myth brought about by the 9600GT. No wonder for the fancy PWM, Nvidia knows people will have to clock to the sky to no feel like complete tools for not picking up a year old 768mb G80 instead. SLI features is a gimmick for most around launch, when a card is brand new the bottom line is what it does in single gpu. SLI ability would be appreciated in time though

Nvidia probably could've sat on the current generation six months more. (GT92, GTX, and GTX ultra)

i think most people are hoping that, but i'm not sure, it's supposedly the SAME core. no optimizations like the G94 in the 9600.

yea, but people would so much, it'd be crazy. But really, the only game that doesn't run fine on a 8800GTS (G80) is Crysis. That's an old core too.

the sooner nvidia hauls this crappy 9800 card out, the sooner we can begin a new countdown for G100 series cards
