    Talking 790i ULTRA SLI + E8500 + kingpin F1 EE + Corsair Dominators + LN2 = 5.7GHz benchmarks

    Team.AU Strikes Again!!!

    Hey guys

I was just doing some FSB Testing and MHz Testing to know what clocks i will be able to bench on with a couple of 8800GTS 512MB cards on LN2

looks like 5.7GHz easy and with a bit of tweaking and wresting 5.8GHz may be possible

Note: i used the XP disk from my P5B DLX benchmarks and didn't have time to load any drivers....just benched on that drive LOL

These are just some sneak peak results. Nothing was optimised. I ran all the windows while running benchmarks and used the PC while on it so this is nothing more a hint to give you heads up that you'll be able to use dual cores to "seriously" bench 3D with the new chipset.

This is the only info i am allowed to post until embargo lifts

    Test Configuration:
Nvidia Reference Board 790i Ultra SLI
    (stock board, no mods)
    Intel Core2 Duo E8500 Q745A703 (1.74-1.81vcore used)
    2GB DDR3 Corsair Dominators PC14400 (1.96vdimm DMM measured)
    PCI Express Nvidia 8800GT
    620W Corsair PSU
kingpin F1 Extreme Edition Solid copper CPU LN2 Pot
    Big mamma 35L LN2 Dewar
    80GB SATA Hard Drive
    Windows XP Pro 32bit

5.8GHz validation (611MHz FSB >> straight boot from bios as i didn't have any FSB OC software installed)

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=325161

stability wasn't there @5.8GHz because my CPU had a nasty cold bug. i had to boot at -118C and keep it there for 1M superpi....anything more or less and i'd lose it heheh (lucky i have this F1EE) but with a bit of work i should be able to get this workable i have some things to try

Hope you like what you see

    ROUND 2. SuperPi Testing

OK i've just done some SuperPi testing

i've got all the settings listed in screenshots

P1 and P2 i am referring to are new RAM settings which have been included with the latest BIOS nvidia uploaded a couple of days ago

They give a massive RAM boost and i tell you what....this board isn't too shabby for superpi as well . This is definitely good news for 3D guys as well because 680i and 780i boards were not as good as this

ROUND 3: High FSB (595MHz) 3D testing on SS

some notes from last night's testing at high FSB for 3D stability

first of all............if i get a 32M SuperPi run i should be 3D stable as well ...very good indication

actually using AM3 is probably quickest way to find out

now the settings....didn't take me long to get to this but there is a fair bit of trial and error and with subsequent testing i realised these settings are sweet spots atm

here are the volts set in bios which gave me the highest stable FSB i could benchmark with (595MHz)

    Under System Voltages Section:

CPU Core >> set value required for MHz OC >>> now i have noticed while testing on air/water cooling that i cannot get decent FSB unless my vcore is set reasonably high......so i've tried lower multi OCs with 1.3 and it was not very good for FSB OCing....once i bumped the vcore to 1.5v my FSB increased so play with vcore here as well
CPU FSB >> 1.45v >> watch this value .>> don't use it at 1.45v unless you need to for highest OCs........when you reach your highest OCs check whether lowering this value would achieve the same results........if it does definitely lower this voltage as it can kill your CPU if it spikes high
Memory >> set to value required for MHz OC (1.9-2v is plenty for 2GHz speeds and decent timings)
Nforce SPP (NB) >> 1.45v (VERY important) going lower or higher reduced stability > higher probably due to possible better cooling required (will have to test that but NB is generally pretty cool
Nforce MCP (SB) >> 1.75v (PUT A FAN ON SB)

Golden Rule of Thumb regarding volts >>>> Every setup is different. You may find that different values help you OC better so don't literally copy these and think you're done overclocking. I would also suggest to check whether setting high voltage is really necessary >> Where ever you can reduce voltage while maintaining stability i would suggest you do so to make sure you don't kill your motherboard/RAM/CPU or wherever components are receiving high voltage treatment

LEAVE GTL REF at AUTO >> system will determine the best settings (-80 for me at high FSB) >> for stability at ultra high FSB you can also try dropping it to -90 to -110 otherwise leave it at auto
i've also seen some users gain better stability with their quads with small positive values so definitely experiment with these value to find your motherboard's range

Note in RAM settings there are two settings called P1 and P2 which require you to increase volts manually or you will corrupt your windows as the chipset latencies are set very tight particularly when both P1 & P2 are enabled. For high FSB testing i could not boot even at 575MHz FSB with both P1 and P2 enabled (probably would work with better cooling on NB and possibly some more volts). I had P2 enabled for my 3DMARK runs which i was very happy with

RAM Settings >> i normally set main timings 8-7-6-20 1T and rest are left at auto which i tune through memset

done some more testing on my single stage last night

my first ever voltmod as well
did vcore mod on 8800GT card i was benching on and went from 700MHz core to 800MHz core

    Got some decent scores

    299K Aquamark3 (4th fastest run on HWBOT)

    3DMARK05 28337
seems poor >> need some help with this bench i think heheh

    3DMARK03 48744
seems poor >> need some help with this bench i think too heheh

    3DMARK01 92012 (2nd fastest on HWBOT)
didn't do any extra CL runs ... was in a rush

uploaded youtube video from latest bench session heh

also has that new bios P03R2 with all changes made

    hehe i love this board

loco this is my E8500 i benched on P5B DLX recently at 5.7GHz but with P5B DLX i could not pass 5.7GHz

    this one no probs

Great FSB, Great CPU and great clocks there!

What's the point in showing 01 nature though?

I'd like to see some lobby's at that speed/fsb or even some car chase.

    Thought NDA lifted 18th?

    Keep pushing.

this is just an indication and initial testing....once embargo lifts there will be more info
no particular reason for nature...i just like to run it when doing initial testing....will do some full benches when i get more LN2..

i did this testing with 4-5L of LN2

790i is ddr3 only, right? Stinks, cause I wont be dropping $400 on ram any time soon. Lets hope theres a nForce ddr2 solution that can hit close to that FSB.

Thanks for sharing Dino...nice VERY nice clocks on the 790 reference board. Is there any chance you will have access to the Striker Extreme II?
