    [Uni] Asus 9800gts first look and 3dmark suite

    got a pretty strange card.
    seems a fully upgraded version of 8800gts.

    still, G92 core, 512m, 1.0ns_ram.
    rated at 600/1500/900.

    but...better pwm design.(or it's Asus's own design, who knows )

    tests and bios here:
    http://www.unihw.com/html/18/n-118.html

    will post some overclking results after i find a good cooler

    Is it too much to ask for a close-up of the core?

    why does this seem so disappointing....... A single 8800gtx(stock) with a 3.0ghz kentsfield can beat that 06 score (never benched the others). I also know for a fact that a 8800gtx(still stock) would smoke that score if used in the 4.5 ghz yorkfield(change that to wolfdale or w/e the server version is called, sorry) system.....

    EDIT: I just saw the cpu score..... 4239.... my quad gets 4530 at 3.46 (13x266)

    more

    EDIT AGAIN: Mine is in Vista too......

    even more

    well if these cards yield that little of performance gain, i'm glad i bought the last gen stuff...
    i'm begining to think these are just fillers so nvidia doesnt fall back a generation. seems like ati will win this round for performance if their releases hold true.
    but we'll see...

    driver's not ready yet.
    vGPU=1.1v
    vRam=2.0v
    3phase pwm for GPU_Core
    1phase pwm for vRam

    so i'm regard it as a low-volt version 8800gts

    dual core CPUs score a much worse CPU point score than quads

    Sorry , I just thought of that in the middle of running 06 a second ago. My cpu score isn't that great because my fsb is 1066. I get better scores if I oc it, I just waiting for my new case and to wc my board too. I also have a bunch of stuff running in the background(antivirus, utorrent, coldfusion server) I still don't see me getting much higher than 5k on the cpu with fsb oc'd. I still feel that the 9800gts 06 score is . Ive seen 9800gtx scores in other thread with quads clocked that high and they aren't much better.

    88gtx/88ultra/88gts/98gts/98gtx should be same performance at the same clk.

    overclking test coming out:

    http://www.unihw.com/viewnews-118-page-2.html

    cooling by Zalman VF-900 ,
    ambient=17c
    no additional cooling
    at vGPU=1.1v and such bad cooling, i think it's an nice overclking
    GPU=713mhz, Ram=1065mhz, shader=1782mhz
    with shader>1845, i can't clk ram>1000mhz, same situation happened on 88gt/gts

    8800gts 512 do 800mhz+ on factory cooler :| (mine can at least)

    not sure what the core voltage is but it doesn't matter since it's not adjustable outside of voltmods.

    its a bit of a letdown, i'll agree with the others

    Gotta love NVIDIA marketing, I don't know if I should cry or laugh.

    Guess now they can also blame the 8800GT shortages that they're already planning on a "new" product, ie. 9800GTS, isn't it wonderful!

    88gts=1.18v

    88gt=1.1v

    after vmod, 88gt can run almost same clk as 88gts

    Well actually doesn't the 8800GT stock run 1.05V? With the bios mod it jacks it up to 1.1V.

    I know my 8800GT clocks nicely with the extra voltage I'd love to give it more volts, since my cooling solution works great I don't think its changed tempature at all from the increased clocks and voltages.
